May 21, 2022 Lean Nau

Grindelwald is postcard-perfect, a charming example of a Swiss ski resort. There are slopes for all experience levels, plus plenty of snowy activities for those who don’t ski, such as sledding, hiking or snowshoeing. Not feeling particularly active? Just cozy up by crackling fire and enjoy the merry atmosphere. After a long day, nothing’s better than lingering over a pot of Swiss fondue and a glass of crisp wine as you plan the next day’s adventures.

During a short stay in Zurich we took a two hour city tour with headphone commentary (due to the virus there we no tour guides available). For us, at two hours the tour was just about the right length and the commentary was interesting and informative with a narrative that extended to both the city and national relevance. A word about the driver - he was friendly and just about the best bus/ coach driver I have ever experienced. He navigated the often narrow streets and turnings superbly and was courteous to other drivers and pedestrians. Whilst we thought this was quite an expensive tour, (most things in Zurich are quite expensive), we did very much enjoy it and would certainly recommend it.....

We hiked at a leisurely pace to a point where you could see beyond the mountains what makes you feel huge and tiny at the same time. After lunch with a breathtaking view, small games and interesting information we walked down a narrow forest path to the village and lake, which you can see in the picture. I was able to enjoy nature to the fullest, which felt incredibly good and filled me with gratitude. Mark and Joshua from Myswisspanorama showed us this magical side of Switzerland with their relaxed manner and knowledge about the place and its history. I really recommend this hike to every nature lover.

Wow, what a cool experience! We walked through Main Street and down to Glacier Canyon. My kids had two choices, either walk down to the canyon or walk back up - we would only take the bus 1 way and of course they chose the downhill walk. Super easy, approximately 20 min walk from the end of main street. There was even a fountain along the way to refill the water bottles. The canyon is incredible. Never seen anything like it and then wow, you get to this huge blue net that spans across the gorge and you can walk on it. It was free! Not for the faint of heart. Mama couldn't do it but the kids loved it. The temperature dropped by about 20 degrees F when we were inside the canyon. Kids wanted their jackets but adults were fine without. A nice restaurant on site for after. We took the bus back to town and it ran on the hour. A fun playground for the kids while we waited and us adults could soak in the gorgeous view of Grindelwald.
