230+ person wedding - delivered to perfection

Reviewed By Yoel J

We got married at The Mere in early June and everything the hotel did to help with the day was just fantastic from start to finish. There were over 230 people at the wedding, with over half the guests staying at the hotel for multiple days (many with specific logistical or religious requirements) - but nothing seemed to phase the team at The Mere. Special mention to Katie in events who helped ensure no detail was left unturned for our big day. Simon and Adam in operations both extremely professional and made sure everything ran swimmingly. Not to forget the amazing staff at the front desk (particularly Lauren and Phil), the club lounge and the spa - all who went out their way to accommodate our wedding party. Aside from the wedding, the rooms are all spacious, modern and clean, a good breakfast and the spa is lovely. If only we could do it all again!

30 James Street

A Grade II* listed building, 30 James Street Hotel – Home of the Titanic is truly one of a kind. One of the closest hotels to Liverpool landmarks, the enchanting, nautical-themed hotel is also built on historic foundations. And we’re proud to have preserved its splendour with a contemporary, stylish finish. Radiating with incomparable charm and character, 30 James Street was formerly known as Albion House. The building once stood as the headquarters of White Star Line, the iconic shipping company and most famously owners of RMS Titanic. With impressively spacious rooms and suites, the luxurious hotel is a favourite for couples in search of a romantic stay, or for larger groups of family and friends. Offering elegant group accommodation, all décor and furnishings are designed to ignite a first-class feel to the room, so you can expect plush, comfortable beds and close attention to detail

I am not pleased with my stay here. My family and i even considered sleeping in the car. I am very sad to say that i have nothing positive to say in this review. Upon arrival i quickly realised that this so called ‘posh’ hotel was very far from posh. - the cleanliness was very poor, and looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived. - the shower pressure was very disappointing and it took 5 minutes to wash shampoo out of my hair. - the fire alarm woke me up at 8am and then 2 minutes later stopped. - the furniture is aged, broken and dusty. - the breakfast was cold, the bacon was hard and i asked for more fruit (for a second time) and the waitress threw me a rude remark. - there was litter (empty sugar packet and crisp packet) behind the furniture on arrival. - carpet was very stained. - the velvet walls harboured a musty smell. - my keycard stopped working and i had to have it replaced twice. - the lift was extremely small, maybe a meter squared. - the windows didn’t open, which didn’t help with the dusty smell of the air. - the toilet flush did not work. - the bar on saturday night was open until only 9pm as they were ‘short staffed’. i would ask for a refund but im sure i am not the only one who is upset with my stay here. Don’t recommend sorry.

Revisiting Hapimag Bowness

The Hapimag site, facilities and Bowness area did not disappoint. In fact the Hapimag complex, from a family point of view, has improved since Covid restrictions. There are more activities in the visitors lounge and play area for children, and carers, to use and plenty of books, jigsaws and DVDs to borrow. The swimming pool at local Spa is a good addition also.

Booked a family weekend away here when we arrived it looked like a run down council estate thought we’d give it benefit of doubt arrived at out room and it was absolutely disgusting! Even the rats would turn their nose up at staying in those! Safe to say we didn’t even last an hour there! We left and complained but what a shock had no reply! Would not recommend at all unless you wanna come home with rabies or something! My kids were highly disappointed you know it’s a bad place when you’re 3 year old says I don’t want to stay at pontins it’s scruffy!!
