Anchorage on Straddie Beachfront Island Resort

True beachfront resort revitalised in recent years. A popular repeat guest destination with no roads between you and the beach. Units are as small as Studios for a couple up to 2 bedroom for families.

Great spot, great friendly service, excellent amenities, clean rooms.

Our first trip to Straddie and we were very happy that we chose Anchorage on Straddie. Beach front location is a gem. Great central location. Excellent for couples or families. Stan's Chicken Bar next door definitely worth a visit as is the Bowling Club a 4 minute stroll away.

Everything was clean & the view out over the ocean was gorgeous! We walked to get breakfast and went on the North Gorge walk, which were an easy walking distance from the apartment. Disappointed and not worth the money.

We had a the penthouse and it had great views however, it was not what you would expect for a penthouse. The living area is not roomy - okay for a couple but if a family stayed here, it would be cramped. The balcony is small. It is in no way luxurious or stylish as you would expect for penthouse status. It is really a 3 bedroom unit with ocean views. It is a short, easy walk to a coffee/food. We were advised at time of booking that the unit had not been refurbished. It is in fact way overdue for refurbishment. Window glass had come away from the frame and given the residue of tape still on the window, I guess it has been like this for some time. The sliding door hardware is very corroded. While the ensuite bathroom is roomy and has a large bench, the spout over the bath has had a dodgy repair and looks as though if used, it would burst off. Living area- the curtain rail above the sliding door has been removed and left with two big holes where the rail supports were once located. The living/dining room windows had not been cleaned for some time and there is a balcony on the outside so these can easily be accessed for cleaning. The dvd player is stuffed in a drawer and not connected. The remote for the stereo system has corroded batteries and is unusable. The dining room chairs are plastic and extremely uncomfortable and dont expect a coordinated approach to furnishings. Main Bedroom isn't a bad size and has air con. The other bedrooms only have fans. The TV in the main bedroom is tiny and in a weord position. Definately not worth the hefty price tag for 1 bedroom penthouse.
