Minerario Di Brecca

If you like adventure and misterious places, you cannot miss the Mine of Brecca, an absolute must of your trip in this part of Sardinia. This old antimony mine, was run from an english man, Mr John Mattew Moss and his story is full of charm. Mr Moss and his family moved from London to San Vito at the end of 1800 to look for luck. But their new life in a little village of Sardinia was harder than in London, and they had a lot of troubles. But we do not want to write anymore else and we prefer to tell this story directly at the place where it happened. The hamlet of Brecca is 5 km from San Vito, deep in a uncontamined and wild nature and you can look at the ruined buildings and an interesting chimney, part of a fondery used to melt the antimony directly in place. For braves, there is the chance to visit a little part of the old mine that end with a "window" from you can admire the wild canyon of Brecca. Time of visit: 1,30 - 2,00 h. Trekking clothes and shoes are compulsory.
