Merrimac Ferry

This would be a great family outing with young children. A free boat ride. During the pandemic you have to stay inside your car but it's still fun. You can open the car windows and get a breeze. Added plus there's an ice cream shop at the docks.

Devil's Head Resort

Devil's Head Resort is nestled in the apex of a heavily forested, 1200 acre private Nature Preserve that encompasses natural farmland, rivers, streams, and rises up the Baraboo Bluffs. Experience the gourmet cuisine of the elegant Cornucopia room. Then enjoy the live entertainment in the Devil's Den or an evening of gambling at the nearby casino. Spend some time hiking or biking around the scenic hillsides or take advantage of our tennis courts. Facilities are available for your indoor or outdoor wedding ceremony and reception, conference or gathering.

Really pleasantly surprised with Devil’s Head for skiing/boarding! Coming from Tahoe skiing we had low expectations for our new area options. We hit Cascade first and thought that it was “good enough” but I’m so happy we ventured to Devil’s Head the next day. The runs are considerably longer, there were no lift lines even on a holiday weekend, and the views are better as well. We stayed at the Best Western in Portage and it’s worth the drive. Really nice spot that we’ll absolutely return to!
