Jardin Rafael Paez

The central plaza of the small mountainous town of Jerez.

Reviewed By solounviajero - New Orleans, Louisiana

A beautiful park in the heart of the old town dotted with Fountains and statues. There is a large octagonal band shell in the center and benches everywhere. It is very clean and in the evenings there are many bands playing in different places. The tourist office has a small kiosk here in the day time and there are also many shoe-shine stands around the perimeter of the park.
There is easy access from here to all of the other sites in town as well as all of the shops of the old town.

Reviewed By eruiz5456 - Mexico City, Mexico

It is a medium size church, baroque style, well preserved.
We had the good luck to be at the time of a great charro wedding with a choir of mariachis; the bride on a carriage pulled by a beautiful horse and the church was dressed with many flowers.

De La Torre Building

The impressive cedar doors of this building, now the Cultural Institute, were carved by Severo Revillo, an abandoned Indian child.

Reviewed By solounviajero - New Orleans, Louisiana

The de la Torre building is right across from the Santuario de Nuestra Senora de la Soledad and is a cool looking building... but there is nothing there except the view from the outside (not even a plaque explaining the history of the site). Check it out as you're walking the city, but that's all there is....

Church of the Immaculate Conception

This Jerez church dates back to the 1700s.

Teatro Hinojosa

Reviewed By Ingrid T - Rio Rancho, NM

Fascinating historic theater. During my weekday visit I had it all to myself. I first wandered around exploring backstage and the upper balcony and taking in the historic atmosphere. The caretaker then was kind enough to give me a little tour in Spanish and turn on the chandelier so I could take photos.
