Three French cheeses does not make this a French cheese shop. If you want a large selection of New Zealand cheeses this is the place for you. Worth the visit if your tired of buying the same cheeses in new world and feel like a drive over the hill.

To the Coast with the Post

Travel with Gordon the Rural Mailman as he delivers all the way to the Southern most point of the North Island. Drive through a variaty of gravel roads, see the seals and experience the most picturesque views that the South Wairarapa has to offer. You can climb the 253 steps to the Cape Palliser lighthouse and hear local knowledge with a few laughs along the way. Snacks and lunch included.

We booked this as a way to get an overview of the province, a local experience and to learn more - we were not disappointed. This tour is great fun - informative, action packed and personalised. Great lunch supplied too! You'll need to have a full day spare, but if you do, and if you don't mind sharing your somewhat bouncy ride with the local post and grocery supplies - then book this!

Lake Wairarapa

Reviewed By FredSG - Sydney, Australia

If your looking for a great day trip from Wellington then this one is highly recommended. Travelling on Route 2 from Wellington its not long before the city is left behind. The road through the Rimutaka Mountains is spectacular. It is also the location where Rivendell was filmed in the movie "Lord of the Rings". This is a great place to stop off the highway for about an hour.
Featherston and then Martinborough are great little towns on the way to Lake Wairarapa. Either town is a great stop for mornng tea and/or Lunch. Continuing on, the drive around Lake Wairarapa is very scenic. There main view points of the lake are on the western side of the lake, but the country side is generally very pretty.
This is not a high adrenaline trip, but it is a nice day trip if you want to go beyond Wellington.

This was my second stay with Denise and Dougal in their unique and homely accommodation - this time with some friends when cycling the rimutaka cycle trail.
As we were riding light, we took advantage of the food package - Wow! What a delicious treat! We arrived to the lovely smell of a home cooked stew waiting in the crock pot with a scrumptious home baked cake and high quality supplies for our breakfast and lunch the following day.
The converted railcar accommodation is fantastic, and the chiminea with well stocked wood supply a bonus for fireside yarns late into the night in very big sky country. The ecostore products were also great for a nice hot shower at the end of the day's ride.
All of us were most impressed and I will certainly be back again with the family or friends for accessible isolation at it's best!
