Anderson County Museum

Welcome to the Award Winning Anderson County Museum! Our 12,000 square foot gallery offers inspiration and innovation experiences through our collections, exhibits, programs and events. We engage visitors with our artifact-driven approach in galleries that are not static, but offer new and exciting exhibits, events, and programs monthly. For more than 35 years we have told the stories of Anderson County and South Carolina. These stories educate visitors on the local, regional, and national significance our rich history proclaims. As a museum with more than 25,000 artifacts, our permanent exhibits are always changing. New temporary exhibits are presented quarterly as we collect, preserve and interpret objects in the ACM collection.

The Anderson County Museum was an unexpected "find" on our trip through the area. It is charming, well laid out, and full of beautiful exhibits. We spent about two hours there and could've stayed longer except we needed to be on our way elsewhere. And it's free (donations gratefully accepted.)

We were camping at the KOA campground and had a couple of hours to spare so we decide to visit Split Creek Farm. We listen to some facts about goats that they were telling to a school group. and then we went around by ourselves. We saw some of the goats that were young and able to pet the older goats. Bought some goat fudge at the store And enjoyable hour.

Sadlers Creek State Park

The park staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! The camp sites are a bit close together and the ones that are not tent-only may not have great places to put tents (coarse gravel, not much level ground). But the restrooms were very clean, and we had a great time. There is plenty of deadfall wood, so if you bring a camp saw or axe, you can easily pull together enough wood for a nice fire. We went in late October and were surprised how nice the water was for swimming. If you have a canoe or kayak, definitely bring it along and enjoy the beautiful lake. Explore the islands, or paddle across to Georgia! Saw several deer and a hawk. Wish we could have extended our time.

Denver Downs was amazing! They were happy to sponsor a fall outing for the families of the Women and Children Succeeding program through AIM. The activities were great for all ages - even our adults enjoyed the zipline and corn maze. The facility was very clean. We can't wait to go back!
