6 Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in La Quinta That You Shouldn't Miss

August 25, 2021 Renato Branum

Leading golf destination La Quinta basks in the Coachella Valley, southeast of Palm Springs. Nearly 24,000 people live in the "Gem of the Desert." The city offers a quaint shopping village, an excellent base for exploring the Salton Sea or biking Bear Creek Trail, and, of course, superb golfing. Legendary La Quinta Resort, where Frank Capra wrote Lost Horizon, has lured celebrities since opening in 1926, while municipal SilverRock offers outstanding golfing at the hem of the Santa Rosa Mountains.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church

Hey, you Catholics out there! St. Francis is a beautiful church on beautiful grounds. We attended 7:30 am Mass here last Sunday morning. Fr. McLaughlin, the pastor, presided over Mass. He's from Scotland, and delivered a couple jokes during the homily. Nice effort, Fr. McLaughlin. It's always good to come across a priest from Scotland who knows how to keep the flock awake! Note: this is a busy place. They pack'em in. So, you better plan to be here at least 10-15 minutes early to get a good seat. Enjoy. Amen.

Beautiful library with red roof and beige and white. There are vases outside and flowers. There is a dinosaur as well. They have nice chairs and tables. It looks attractive. Wow! A mountain is near the library. The librarians were very friendly. There were a lot of books and magazines.

I have only had mediocre massages at resorts and was a little skeptical to get one at La Quinta. My husband insisted and I’m so happy I listened! My masseuse Garry was seriously the best, getting every little knot in my body. He also does sports massage on athletes so he knew exactly where my trigger points were and was informative about my hip pain that no one has ever been able to get to. I would definitely come back and see Garry when I am in the area.

Century Theatres Next Gen

We stay on Country Club Drive when visiting the area and find that this movie theatre is a shorter hop (15 mins down Washington)than the drive uptown to other theatres in Palm Desert and beyond. Also you can park a lot closer to the theatre in the ample parking area and the theatre is located in the middle of a large restaurant and shopping precinct. All the first run movies can be seen in this multi screen theatre complex and the seating is the comfy recliner variety.
