6 Nightlife in Taos That You Shouldn't Miss

July 4, 2021 Myesha Cogley

A rolling mesa at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Taos has a magical quality. Its rugged beauty, majestic mountains, wild Rio Grande river and unique blend of cultures - Spanish, Native American and Anglo - have historically drawn artists and photographers, evidenced by the plentiful galleries, museums and festivals. To experience the Native American culture here, explore Taos Pueblo, where the Tiwa Native Americans have practiced their traditions for centuries. Finally, the Anglo influence is prevalent in the business district, with its shops, art galleries and some of the finest restaurants in New Mexico. Skiing is also a major draw, but the challenging slopes are geared to the more advanced crowd. There's no rat race here; a fair share of non-mainstreamers have made this laid-back, low-key mecca their home. You, too, may not want to leave its tranquility and natural beauty.

We stayed at El Monte Sagrado Resort over Christmas and Christmas Eve , and visited the Anaconda bar several times. It was always a pleasure. Great bartenders, excellent drink selection , and also really good food. I'm sure the locals also visit this bar, as it is one of the best places in Taos to go.

We live in southern co. it's about a 2 hr drive from home to taos, the Alley Cantina is a must every time we go. I can't remember how many times we have eaten there, a bunch! We have had OK lunches so-so-lunches pretty good lunches, but this last time was sooper great, first time I have ever gotten my hamburger med rare as I always order anywhere, best I've had in a long time, my wife had the chilli rellenos appetizer, full plate smothered in green chilli, usually we need a doggy bag not this time. Waitress was very freindly and accomodating, we shall return many more times.
