Families gravitate to Myrtle Beach and the 60-mile span of Grand Strand, where over 100 championship golf courses, tennis courts and nightclubs await. Charleston’s hundreds of heritage buildings, and irresistible charm, are part of its allure. Beach resorts at Kiawah Island, Seabrook and Edisto Island make for romantic getaways. The beautiful Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina always make a nice destination especially walking from the Palmetto Dunes villas. The boats look the part adding to the marine charm of this area. There is a boating store at the end of walking promenade and many boats offer charters and rentals. Visitors stroll here, bikers bike, during Thanksgiving weekend a "choo-choo train" shuttle was a major attraction for the kids. There are several good restaurants in the immediate area. We stayed near the Marina and enjoyed watching the boats sail away each day. Our VRBO Villa was right on the boardwalk, so walking to the Marina and shops was very close. The daily sunsets were extremely beautiful, because there were no trees to obstruct the view to the west. For a relaxing vacation spot, staying near the Marina is a sure bet.

I have passed this on my way to work every day for who knows how long. Finally decided to stop in. And was i shocked! Wonderful little center! rich in history of the shrimp and oyster industry, lovely, clean displays and an amazing ocean view. The magnificent aquarium smack in the middle is stocked with many of the very species i have caught on the pier! Just wonderful. The staff were friendly, and so knowledgable. The "please touch" room has a large floor tank with puffer fish and minnows and crabs and welks. a small aquarium houses little horseshoe crabs . There is a tank with 2 baby alligators, a tank with diamond terrapins , a tank with a box turtle , a corn snake and a rat snake. The Dossent was so friendly! He gave the history of each animal. Allowed us to hold the baby eastern king snake and the corn snake. We got to pet the alligators. The terrapins were so cute. The one was a super chubbins. After my visit, i told several friends about it, and advised them to take their little ones. A small child with an interest in the ocean and wildlife would love this place. Mom and dad would love the history area. I thought i would be there for 10 mins tops. 2 hours later i left with a big smile. Just wonderful. And was totally free!
