Golfing Trip

Reviewed By Andrew H

We were a group of 4 playing locally at the weekend and one of our party had booked this hotel. The rooms we had were spacious enough, situated at the end of the car park, the only issue being we had booked 2 x twins and we got 1 twin, and a double but with a pull out sofa bed. The owner quickly sorted the pull out bed but it would have been good to have a proper bed. Plenty of storage space for golf clubs and clothes, bathroom also spacious enough plenty of towels. The hotel stops serving food at 8.00 p.m., but we’re good enough to keep kitchen open till our 4th arrived just after 8.15 p.m., the pizza I had was large, too much cheese and not enough pepperoni but the others had Fish and Chips which was a huge portion, and Scampi which looked like 5 meals worth in numbers, we had the steak the following evening which was very good. The others were not as impressed with the beer but service was quick, popular with cyclists. Worth stopping here and we will be back next year.

Fantastic pub in a lovely village setting

We had lunch at The Hoste and had a lovely experience. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The food was very nice and there was plenty of choice from a very good menu. We took our two pug dogs and they were very well looked after too. We will definitely return.

Relaxing heaven

We booked initially earlier in the year and how to cancel last minute due to Covid. Not an issue with the hotel. Spent 4 nights here on the long bank holiday weekend. Online checking and payment went smoothly. The rooms were immaculate clean, fresh and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a treat, freshly made with excellent granola yoghurt pot. There was even a log fire when the weather changed to very English. Staff were always available and really helpful. We ate at The Acre one evening - again hard to fault (maybe the chocolate fondant was a bit rich!!). One word of warning do not trust the satnav - it is well signposted

Fantastic break away

Reviewed By Sophie39

Absolutely amazing stay at the Hero. We stayed in Gun Hill which was beautiful and fantastically done. Every detail was perfect from the basket light-shades, to the curved edges to the windows and cielings, it just felt like a beautiful space to rest and be. View from the window straight down the lane to the Staithe, and when the tide was in the sea. Bed was also out of this world on comfort, fluffy pillows - and I am picky on pillows and travel with my own, crisp but not too crisp white bed linen and a mattress that felt like it had been picked for you, really luxurious. The bathroom was a delight with huge bath, walk in shower, and loo tucked away for privacy. The room also had a lovely sofa and chair with coffee table so you could enjoy being in the room without needing to lie on the bed. Really cleverly designed in every detail, and a lovely sense of space and light. I went for a walk in the afternoon, and it is so beautiful walking across to Gun Hill, lots of geese, ducks and water birds, belted Galloways grazing on the way back, just lovely. Exceptional young team of staff who were friendly without being too much and fun to be around, creating a really good atmosphere in the pub downstairs. We had dinner in the restaurant, it was Sunday so we had the roast and it was good, with a fabulous Yorkshire pudding on top. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was exceptional and my partner had the full English which looked wonderful, he said it was really really good, lots of delicious coffee too. I can't recommend the Hero enough. Fantastic location Really loved it, and very much hope to return later in the year.

We stayed in Kings Cross a lovely lovely room in The Railway, which we found by accident when looking for accommodation in Burnham Market. Newly refurbished with massive attention to detail it's luxurious and understated. Go while you can as I suspect it's going to become very popular.

Charming

Reviewed By keep-on-exploring

Beautiful room, awesome location, really expensive. Perhaps its not worth the extra money, though we did enjoy the stay. Check in slow and lacking customer service skills from staff. overall link to The Hoste lets the side down. I wouldn’t stay again because of it. Beautiful rooms can be found elsewhere.
