Ta' Pinu National Shrine

Reviewed By Teresa55555 - Ellensburg, United States

Extraordinary Ta Pinu Basilica, described as the most beautiful church in Malta, is a shrine and a pilgrimage destination. The beautiful interior and amazing mosaics in front of the church are worth seeing. The story of Carmela Grima and later history of the site are compelling. Take the walk up the hill across from the church to see the marble Stations of the Cross and the amazing view in all directions from the top of the hill.

Our tuk tuk tour driver brought us here and we were blown away by the beautiful scenery and peaceful environment! It was so serene and unlike anything we had ever seen. Absolutely breath-taking! Check it out now before tourists begin overtaking it. There are nice flat rocks that you can sit on and enjoy a nice picnic while enjoying the stunning views.

We randomly arrived st this Crafts Village. Free car parking just off the street. Lots of different buildings, some still in construction, which house different crafts. We loved the Gozo Glass Shop and Sheet Metak Shop. Bought items from both and were well wrapped up for travel back to the UK. Al, the gifts were hand made and locally made. Gift Shop was good as well. Bought teddy’s for the grandchildren there. Great cafe. Food was so fresh and good value. Really friendly staff. Please don’t miss this place if driving by.

Take time to stop your car and visit this exquisite church... both inside and out ... and walk the surrounding streets and alleys. We discovered the Ta' Dirjanu Supermarket and bought a number of local items such as wine, cheese and sundried Maltese tomatoes.

My husband and I visited the Gozo Glass workshop having already decided we wanted to bring back a Maltese glass ornament from our holiday. I loved watching the glassblowers at work, and the stock in the adjoining shop was gorgeous. We really enjoyed selecting a vase to take home. I also appreciated the fact that the shop assistant left us to it and didn't make any suggestions etc - I much prefer shopping without feeling hassled. We would definitely come back here if we visit Gozo again!
