We rented a house from Vrbo and were very happy with our experience. They had a dock and deck area for sitting and enjoying the beautiful lake. The water was very clear and clean. I was surprised that the temperature of water seemed warm for early July. We swam every day. Since travels were during Covid we did curbside takeout and were happy with food and service from Gilda's, Doug's Fish Fry, and The elephant and Dove.

Charlie Major Nature Trail

A lovely walk through the woods, complete with the sight and sound of running water from the stream next to the trail. Not too long to walk, straight path, and easy to traverse. An easy walk for someone who wants to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Lockwood Lavender Farm

LOCKWOOD LAVENDER FARM WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE 2019 SEASON. Farming is never easy at the best of times. Our plants should be green and growing now but after an unusually wet fall and winter and now a wet spring, many of our plants appear damaged. Lavender thrives in a well-drained soil, but when precipitation becomes inordinate plants suffer. We have heard from many gardeners and other lavender farmers across Canada and the U.S. that are also experiencing the same loss after this winter’s polar vortex. Our reaction plan, the angustifolia we are pruning back and a large number of the lavandins will need removal and replacement. This will be a year to propagate cuttings from the less damaged plants and plan for the future. Over the 18 years that we have welcomed people to our farm (our home) it has always been our goal to offer the best of what we do. We will not be capable of representing ourselves at those standards in 2019.

Last Shot Distillery

Reviewed By lzone - Rochester, United States

My sister and I were just taking a Sunday drive, and decided to head in the Skaneateles direction. When the winery we wanted to see was busy with a wedding, and basically shut down except for a little area for tastings, we decided to skip the winery for another time and head to Last Shot. We got there a little earlier than they opened, but that was no problem for Kelly (co owner of the shop). She was very friendly and knowledgeable of the whole process of distilling, and was more than welcoming to me and my sister. She spoke fondly of her family, who helps in the process. My favorites were the bourbon and the distilled reserve. My sister enjoyed the maple 'recipe' the most :-) Definitely a great find. I'm enjoying the reserve as I write this review. Stop by, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Carpenter Falls

We needed to kill some time prior to checking into to our hotel and found this park on the map by chance. We were there on a holiday Monday, but still only saw 3 people in the park. It was a little challenging to stay on trail and understand the loop, but the water falls and natural beauty FAR outweighed any concerns with this hidden gem of a hike.
