The Candy Factory

Reviewed By MadFamily88 - Greensboro, United States

I read about this place in Our State Magazine and made a note to stop if we were anywhere near Lexington. It's like stepping back in time....nostalgia candies and sodas, delicious chocolates and fudge and very friendly staff who have probably been there for years. If you've ever been to a Mast General Store, this is an authentic "Mast" store. They also have unusual small toys and some small antiques near the rear of the store.

North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Reviewed By urbanguy - Richmond, United States

We entered the Rest Stop at MM 100 on I-85 to "use" the Rest Stop and wound up seeing a really nice and interesting potential tourist attraction. I noticed the sign to the Memorial and decided to walk down to it. You'll walk down a short hill, go across a one lane bridge, and get to a parking lot. You walk a little more and come to a well mowed field with the Memorial at the far end. It's a red brick wall with bronze plaques as its center panel. Each plaque has the name of the more than 1600 North Carolinians killed or missing in Vietnam. Very, very nice!

Weathervane Winery

My husband and I were visiting the area and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Weathervane Winery Cork's Up cabin. The immaculate condition, so comfortable bed, the huge shower with a seat, and the hot tub were so worth the price. Did I mention the location right nextdoor to to the Weathervane Winery? The wine is fantastic! So if your planning to travel and sample the Southern Wine Trail make a reservation. You won't be sorry. I am already planning my next stay at Cork's Up. Cheers.

This was the last stop after spending a great day in Lexington. My daughter was a little apprehensive as we drove down the one lane unpaved drive way, and more still when we pulled in front of the small building. We were greeted warmly by a nice gentleman running the place, and we really enjoyed our wine tasting. The wines are sweet. We both left with a couple of bottles and look forward to returning!

Boone's Cave Park

Reviewed By jmpncsu - Raleigh, United States

My wife and I took our dog for a hike at Boone's Cave Park. Formerly a state park, it is now a Davidson County park. There are a couple small caves along the Yadkin River though not big enough to really go in. Several miles of trails throughout the park make for great hiking. A good diversity of trails from flat wide old roads to more steep and strenuous trails. All the trails are short and lots of connectors to create any length of hike. There are two very large trees along the trails, a red oak and a cottonwood. Overall, a great place to hike near Lexington.
