Il locale si trova all'inizio dei sentieri, a circa 6 Km a monte dell'abitato di Orsomarso, in uno scenario naturale assolutamente unico, all'interno della Valle del Fiume Argentino, universalmente nota come una delle ultime nicchie ecologiche del territorio regionale. In ambienti da fiaba, attraverso le immense foreste di bassa macchia mediterranea, faggio e pini loricati dei monti dell'Orsomarso, si possono fare delle escursioni ( sono state risistemati i passaggi del fiume) con guida (chiedere al rifugio), per passare delle giornate indimenticabili, arrivando fino al belvedere oppure ammirare le cascate che il territorio offre.

Reviewed By DawnP1972Leaving Orsomarso you enter the beautiful valley of the river Argentino. The water is so pristine! The refuge is at the end of a 6 km dirt road but the road is very well maintained. Each night we ate wonderful food cooked by Oscar and Anna and grown in their garden in Orsomarso-served with good local wine. The rooms are comfortable and the only sounds you hear are birds and the flow of the river. We had planned many day trips but my boys, 5 years and 8 years only wanted to spend their time playing in woods, rocks and river. The dirt road is an excellent place for kids to ride their bikes. Nice hiking trails leave from the refuge and Oscar is an excellent guide. We felt like we were with family and my sons hope to return as soon as possible.

The hospitable heart of Pollino
Reviewed By Stefano CWe are an Italo-Belgian couple with a little daughter (2y). Staying 5 days at Italia and Erminio's place was like visiting friends or relatives, so spontaneous their hospitality has proved to be. This combines with am outstanding knowledge of the region and of its products. everything you will eat there has been cultivated or bred and processed by their family. Italia is an excellent and passionate cook. Talking with Erminio and his fathet Domenico revealed an impressive vision of how to give value to a land and its traditions. to put it briefly,this is a fantastic and warmly suggested place from which to visit the mountains of Pollino as well as to explore the Tirrenian coast between Maratea and Scalea without getting trapped in the summer chaos of some coastal cities.
