Azienda Vitivinicola Balbiano

The Balbiano Winery was founded in 1941, and for almost seventy years is the benchmark of Freisa Chieri's production, an historical product, once known only in its sweet vinification and now in its popular dry semi-sparkling and dry still versions. The company's production also extends to a range of wines from the province of Turin, as the Collina Torinese Bonarda, Collina Torinese Cari and the Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco. The company philosophy has always focused on the motto "New technologies in service of tradition's respect": it is emblematic demonstration the very structure of the Company, an 18th century farmhouse, renovated, houses the premises, the basement levels and the aging cellar, which form the backdrop to a product, Freisa di Chieri Balbiano, of absolute excellence. Big plus is the wonderful Museum of Countrylife and Old Toys: a collection of objects used in farming, with thousands of pieces of the last century. Since 2003, the Balbiano Company took part in the ambitious project to restore the Villa della Regina in Turin, devoting himself to the historic six-eighteenth century vineyard replanting. The vineyard, which enjoys a unique view, overlooking the Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the Gran Madre di Dio, finally went into production in 2008, when they collected about 10 quintals of grapes (for 95% Freisa) entrusted to Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Turin because he did some experimental microvinification. In 2009 the vineyard has produced about 50 quintals of healthy and mature grapes (even the harvest took place September 10, 2009), which gave birth to a wine, "Vigna della Regina" in 2009, officially launched on April 13, 2011. Of this vintage were produced almost 3600 bottles. A limited number of magnums, double magnums and Balthazar (12 L), had been the subject of an auction held at the Villa della Regina April 16, 2011 and whose proceeds will be used to recover part of the beautiful gardens of Villa della Regina, and the expansion of the vineyard. Since 2011 vintage, Villa della Regina's wine is a DOC wine: Freisa di Chieri DOC "Vigna Villa della Regina". Even more rare, even more unique. The Balbiano Winery, award-winning, is included since its first edition (which included only 50 companies) in the team of Masters of Taste, a prestigious event sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin and Slow Food. Mission: The mission of the company is undoubtedly first and foremost to promote the area, its traditions and its high quality wines.
