Located at the old Scott County poor farm on South Main St. in Scottsburg, the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum is a Scott County historic treasure for visitors. Two floors of displays highlight significant historical moments in Scott County. A small gift shop sells books and other items of Scott County history. With friendly, knowledgable staff, this is an enjoyable place to visit and filled with interesting exhibits. Interested in ghost stories, don't forget to ask about the haunted history of the building.

We saw the sign on 65 north, missed the details but luckily saw a second sign. Having visited cheese shops many times Wisconsin, we had to stop. The farm store had a large variety of products and scents—bar soap, lip balm, detergent, stick and bottled lotion, soy candles, liquid soap, shying soap, etc. however, I cannot imagine working on there all day long. Maybe your nose would go numb. Then we went to the sweet shop and sampled some cheese, fudge, and sour dough English muffins. Yummy! We believe everything was locally made. Didn’t have time for the tour, but we would try to stop by again.

Hardy Lake State Park

Another great Indiana State Park in southern Indiana, just east of Scottsburg. This may be the newest one at three years old. The DNR is still making improvements and updating services but the lake is the big attraction. We camped in a pop-up and there are many large wooded sites with level graveled sites. Although IN has had way too much rain the sites were mostly dry with puddles in the low spots. We kayaked from the Wooster primitive campground access and enjoyed the eagles, ospreys and swallows. The bath houses were very clean and the staff friendly. The Park is located well off the beaten track and resupplying will be much easier when the camp store is up and running. My wife and I look forward to future visits in this beautiful setting.
