Marie Byles Lookout

Reviewed By O7408YWjeremyl - Killcare, Australia

As the crow flies, it's 80 kms north along the coastline to Sydney CBD, and the view from Marie Byles lookout is superb on a clear day. The view north encompasses Palm Beach headland and it's lighthouse, Lion Island and Pittwater, the Whale Beach headland, the Long Reef headland, and finally the Long Reef headland before North Head. In winter and spring it's possible to see migrating whales, and dolphins are welcome visitors to Putty and Killcare beach below the viewing platform. There are many good bush tracks tracing the coastline in the adjacent Bouddi National Park, which Marie Byles helped to create.

Bouddi National Park

Great walk and the scenery was terrific. Not too hard and the paths were in good order. It was winter but we scored the weather of spring and it was warm enough to take off the jacket. Highly recommend.

A friend & I came across this place while on a short stay in the area. I got my 2nd - & by far my favorite - Aboriginal painting there. The woman running the place couldn't be nicer. No being pounced on & given the hard sell. When I was ready to ask some questions, she was so open and informative without being pushy & very respectful of the artists. A week later I phoned and questioned how the artwork was sourced - she happily provided detailed information which was what I understood was the best practice. She organised for the painting to be stretched and framed at a good price. Love the painting and made nicer by the experience of the staff.
