Kent is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, alongside the border with New York. The population was 2,858 at the 2000 census. The town is home to three boarding schools: South Kent School, Kent School and The Marvelwood School. The Schaghticoke Indian Reservation is also located within town borders.

We have driven past this museum many times and finally had an opportunity to stop & spend time there. A volunteer spent a lot of time with us, explaining where all the rocks, crystals & quartz were from and how they were mined. There's a small gift shop & donations are gladly accepted. We were surprised to find some large quartz had come from a town we once lived in in eastern Connecticut. There is an annual festival each September. Great place for families!

We normally head for Vermont and New Hampshire this time of year, but it did not work out. As an alternative we headed instead to Northwest Connecticut. This late in October it was no less spectacular then its northern counterparts. Kent Falls State Park seems to encompass all New England has to offer in the fall. The ride there on back country roads was stunning with fall colors just slightly past peak. While the park is not that large, there is no shortage of activities. The center of attention are the five falls and the trail up to the top. The trail is steep and a bit strenuous and is not for anyone with mobility or breathing issues. As you ascend there are several observation platforms allowing for better views of the falls. In addition there is a large green with benches and picnic tables,as well as a covered bridge over Kent Falls Brook, perfect for photo ops. There are bathrooms, and plenty of parking to the amount of $12 for those visiting from out of state. It is enforced! A great way to spend an afternoon.
