5 Things to do Good for Adrenaline Seekers in Anacapri That You Shouldn't Miss

June 30, 2021 Leida Jutras

Anacapri is a comune on the island of Capri, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Italy. The Ancient Greek prefix ana- means "up" or "above", signifying that Anacapri is located at a higher elevation on the island than Capri (about 150 m higher on average). Administratively, it has a separate status from the city of Capri. The most significant site in the village is the Villa San Michele.

Monte Solaro

From Piazza della Vittoria you can take a breathtaking chairlift to the top of Mount Solaro, the highest point on Capri at 1,932 feet.

If you’re in Anacapri you must go on the chairlift and visit the mountain peak - if you are in Capri for more than a day it’s also easy to get to by bus from the Marina or Main Square. The views across the whole island are simply stunning, and reached by single seat chairlift which climbs the mountain. It’s so peaceful and calm and a wonderful experience (unless you have vertigo - it might not be for you!). You get to the top on arrival the views are breathtaking. You can see the whole island across to the mainland and even over to Mount Vesuvius. The return trip is well worth the €12 - I didn’t see the stairs or how you’d actually make the journey back down again....

Seggiovia Monte Solaro

The chairlift up to the top of Monte Solaro is a must when in Capri - the views at the top are incredible and the 13 minute ride on the chairlift itself is wonderfully peaceful, taking in the views and brea mgthing in the fresh air (away from the crowds below). When we arrived there was no queue and we were able to go straight on - we paid €12 each for a round trip and then hopped on. I was a little worried before hand about getting on the single chair lift (very much like a ski chair lift) but it was so simple to get on and there was someone there to ensure you got on and off ok.

Blue Grotto

The must-see attraction on Capri is the magical Blue Grotto, where visitors take a boat ride through a natural cavern that is filled with an ethereal and eerie light reflecting on the (very blue) water.

We highly recommend making your own way via bus to the Blue Grotto. Also check the tide times before you travel as it is closed when the tide is high. You may have to wait for a while, but not as long as the people who arrive on the tourist boats. On average there are four/five people per boat. You pay a fee (which I think was 15 euros each) and then head through a very small tunnel ... keep your hands in and your head down. Once inside it is breathtaking. You get to go around a few times and take pictures and videos, then remember to duck on the way out. You can then tip your boat man! We also had a display of fish leaping out of the water which was great fun, especially when some ended up in one of the boat mans trousers. We would definitely recommend this! Hope you enjoy.
