Since the burning of the Pagaruyung Palace, this museum has become one of the best "rumah gadang" to visit. I think, this museum has become a must-visit tourist object when we go to West Sumatra.

Grand Mosque of West Sumatra

If you have any interest in architecture this is a must see. You don't get a sense of the scale of it unless you're there in person. It's huge. The design is based on a traditional Minangkabau Gadang house. You have to see it at various times. It's impressive during the day and beautiful at night. This is worth visiting Padang for. Note that this is a place of worship and any visitors need to be respectful.
