Riohacha (Spanish pronunciation: [rjoˈa.tʃa]), Rio Hacha or Rio de la Hacha (English: River of the Axe or Axeshore - Wayuu: Süchiimma, "Süchii" means river, and "mma" means land, Riverland), is a city in the Riohacha Municipality in the northern Caribbean Region of Colombia by the mouth of the Ranchería River and the Caribbean sea, capital city of the La Guajira Department. Founded by conquistador Nikolaus Federmann in 1535, Riohacha was named after a local legend "The legend of the Axe". Owing to the powerful rain shadow of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the area is mostly desertic and inhabited by Amerindians, predominantly by members of the Wayuu ethnic group. During colonial times Riohacha was a very important port due to the discovery of vast numbers of pearls. In the second half of the 20th Century, the city became one of Colombia's medium important, maritime commercial ports as well as a multicultural center for La Guajira Department. The city is mentioned several times in One Hundred Years of Solitude, Love in the Time of Cholera, and Chronicle of a Death Foretold, novels written by Gabriel García Márquez.

Guys I cannot recommend this place enough. Not only are the prices super reasonable, but the people working here genuinely care about their customers and try their hardest to help in any way they can. I did a Reiki session with Lervi (the onwer) and it was an absolute game changer- since then I have myself gone through a Reiki class to learn how to practice because it was such an incrdible experience. I also did an oracle session with his wife and it was on point- she knew things that I never told her and she had no way of knowing, and since I left, everything she predicted has come true. Lastly (I couldn't get enough of this place), my boyfriend and I went for a couple massage which lasted two heavenly hours and included a full back and neck massage, a foot massage, and a really delicious salad which we enjoyed while looking out at the beautiful beach. I could not recommend going here more! I guarantee you will want to come back again! Chicos no les puedo hablar bastante bien de este sitio. Los empleados son unos encantos: quieren qyudar en todo lo que pueden, te tratan fantastico, y sepan como hacer su trabajo expectacularmente. Personalmente, he hecho un tratamiento con Lervi (el dueño) de Reiki y fue IMPRESSIONANTE. Tenia un dolor en la espalda por mucho tiempo, y se me quito. Tenia mucho anxiedad y nervios del viaje y me sentia super nerviosa por la epoca que estaba pasando en mi vida, y desde el dia que me hizo reiki, relaje totalmente. Encima, tenia unaa session de oraculo con su esposa, Luz, que fue igual de fantastico. Me explico unas cosas que no podria saber de mi, y todo lo que me dijo sobre el futuro ha cumplido 100%. Despues (si, hize mas terapias porque era lo mejor que he hecho en la forma de terapias), tuvimos un massage de parejo con mi novio. Fueron dos horas divinas de massage de espalda y cuello, reflexologia, y una ensalada riquissima mirando hacia el mar. Chicos si tienen la posibilidad, tienen que ir! Los precios son fantasticos comparado con los servisios, y led juro no lo van a repentir!
