Brookings is a city in Brookings County, South Dakota, United States. Brookings is the fourth largest city in South Dakota, with a population of 22,056 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Brookings County, and home to South Dakota State University, the largest institution of higher education in the state. Also found in Brookings are the South Dakota Art Museum, the Children's Museum of South Dakota, the annual Brookings Summer Arts Festival, and the headquarters of a number of manufacturing companies and agricultural operations.

SDSU Dairy Sales Bar

This flavor was invented here in 1979! Open Monday-Friday and located in the middle of the SDSU campus, the Dairy Bar is well worth a visit. Lots of delicious flavors at a esto able price. Other baked goods as well as cheese and meat sticks available too. Get a 2-scooper!

Lots of interactive things to do both indoors and out. Grandkids especially liked the grocery store and water works.

South Dakota Art Museum

Open with banner permanent collections exhibitions celebrating the museum's 50th anniversary. This includes the museum's entire 145-piece Harvey Dunn collection through Oct. 24, 2021; a stunning new collection of traditional American Indian artistry donated by Cathy and Ken Vogele through May 28, 2021; and, “The South Dakota Governor's 9th Biennial Art Exhibition" through June 13, 2021.
