This is a wonderful road that for many mikes is along the Pacific coast. Do not use it as a freeway, it is not. Great scenic drive with lots to see and do along the way. Most is one lane in each direction, but the scenery is not something that you will want to speed past.

Tolosa

At Tolosa, we are true believers in the special terroir that is Edna Valley, nestled amongst the East-West running volcanic hills of San Luis Obispo County and the frontier for the most complex cool-climate varietals in California. Our Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays reflect the cold Pacific wind that sweeps down the coast and funnels into the valley, as well as the remarkable diversity of soil types: ingredients for nuanced and balanced wines of distinctive character. We combine traditional methods such as hand punch down and whole berry uncrushed fermentations with cutting edge technology in soil exploration and vineyard mapping to handcraft exceptional Pinot noirs and Chardonnays that are the purest expressions of Edna Valley. Visit us daily 11-6pm for exclusive limited release and barrel tasting flights. Reservations recommended. Contact our concierge at 805.782.0500.

I do believe that it was the best wine I have ever had the pleasure to drink. I went to or called every retailer in the county tracking down a few bottles here and a case there. Is it my jaded memory or was it really that great. Still trying to find a vintage that I am willing to do that again for. Yesterday’s visit to Tolosa was a good event for us. The brother-in-law is a wine club member, so we took advantage of his discount to purchase a few bottles. Our favorite on this sunny and warm afternoon was a Chardonnay.
