5 Thermal Spas in Chiang Mai That You Shouldn't Miss

May 19, 2022 Giuseppe Pratt

You could spend your whole Chiang Mai vacation exploring the famous Night Bazaar. Once you’ve exhausted the art of the cheerful haggle, however, there’s plenty more to explore. The National Museum and Botanic Garden are great places to soak up some local culture and to breathe in the delicate fragrance of Thai orchids. In the city’s center, the remains of ancient walls embrace over 30 temples. Limber travelers can climb 300 stairs to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, an ornate Buddhist temple in the hills.

10 minutes after requesting a booking (hoping for that day service), I received an email saying my appointment had been confirmed and a driver will be 20 minutes away. I knew from that moment it was going to be a good experience. I was picked up right in front of my hotel from Mr Yoyo who was so lovely and kind, opened the door for me. I was then warmly greeted at the spa entrance and offered a cold towel and tea to sip on while I waited for my appointment. 5 minutes later I was shown the way, greeted again by a lovely lady called Tam who showed me the nail colours to choose for my pedicure and manicure. She did an amazing job, and was so kind It was so relaxing I fell asleep multiple times, then I was offered another tea, towel and some lollies. The front staff called Mr Yoyo and he transferred me back to my hotel, easy as that. Couldn’t have asked for a better spa day!

Lila Thai Massage - Phra Singh

LILA THAI MASSAGE "NaowaratThanasrisutharat" established the Lila Thai Massage Ex-Inmate Employment and Skill Development Center in 2014 to help and support these women. Here, they receive a massage training course from certified massage instructors (ex-inmates who work for Lila Thai Massage); these programs are endorsed by and meet the requirements of the Chiang Mai Public Health Department. It is our hope that these efforts will continue to reduce the women conviction rates in Chiang Mai and help to solve the societal problems that perpetuate the situation, bringing about our long-cherished dream for a better community.

We booked the signature Lila Thai 2 hour massage and it was awesome. You arrive and they do a warm foot soak. Then you change into Thai comfy clothes and go to your room. The area we were in was semi-private, separated by a curtain but it was honestly not an issue. They put us together in the same “room” and it felt private and secluded. The massage was amazing - head to toe and really a unique experience with stretching and different types of massage. The end of the massage session was about 20 min of herbal hot compress massage which was truly heavenly. The massage part lasted the full 2 hours which was also nice. At the end, they gave us some Thai tea and cookies and a little key chain. We left feeling so rejuvenated and refreshed. The women who work there are amazing and we definitely recommend you go!
