Poplar Grove offers everything from historical facts and even spiritual activity! Literally, who isn’t obsess with spirits from the past who STILL occupy the house!? Talk about amazing and literally worth it! I have visited this house and the land multiple times! This is a great location for weddings and just a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s a great place to take your family for a day visit and an excellent date night spot to tour the house and communicate with the previous tenants who used to occupy and still occupy the house! The animals on the land are super sweet! My children really adore the barn cats, horses, and the chickens. It’s like a little petting zoo! In the fall they offer guided paranormal tours. These tours are exciting and educational because the tour guides are extremely knowledgeable on the history of the land and the house. As mentioned before I have gone to this house multiple times, and always recommend this place to all my friends. Poplar Grove is a unique place, to step back into time and learn about Hampstead & Wilmington history! You should visit today!

Riverwalk

Without going into detail, this was my first visit to Wilmington since 1968, and I was 14 and didn't remember the river walk area. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at the river walk area, which reminded of us of a combination of Savanah, Charleston,Georgetown. History abounds in this area, as placards set up at various spots gives you the background of the river and its expansive influence to Wilmington thru its time of growth. Restaurants are abundant on and around the river walk, as well as tour boats( with bars!) to show the sites along the Cape Fear river and its estuary with the ocean, and the USS North Carolina just across the river(another great historic place to visit). We were there in the early afternoon, but looking at the pictures of other reviews, it looks great at night with the lights. It's a nice walk, lengthy for some, but just take your time and enjoy

Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden

There was a parking lot next to a trail that had exceptional signage leading to the area where you could see the plants growing in a natural setting. At first we struggled to find and identify the plants, but once we did find them we had fun continuing to look for more. I had no idea that these plants were native to this area.
