October 24, 2021 Roger Rusk

Kalkara (Maltese: Il-Kalkara) is a village in the South Eastern Region of Malta, with a population of 3,014 as of March 2014. The name is derived from the Latin word for lime (Calce), and it is believed that there was a lime kiln present there since Roman times. Kalkara forms part of the inner harbour area and occupies the area around Kalkara Creek. The town has its own Local Council and is bordered by the cities of Birgu and Żabbar, as well as the town of Xgħajra.

SmartCity Malta

Reviewed By PhilipD1556 - Ossett, United Kingdom

I had driven past Smart City on a previous visit but this time we stopped for a full visit, I was amazed at the size of the site and it looks like they are making preparations to extend the grounds even further. The choice of eatery was not extensive however, the food and service was brilliant - even down to a British Pub!!!!! We walked around the whole arena where the fountains are but, they were not working as October is the end of their season. Visiting during the day is great but to get the best effect, a visit at night is recommended as discussed with a friend who had actually done this previously. The fountains are apparently brilliant and take their initiative from the fountains at the Bellagio in Vegas. Well worth a visit for anyone lucky enough to be in Malta
