Ancil Hoffman Park

Having lived on the hill over the park for 40 years, I know the park very well. It is 396 acres of grass lawns, hiking/biking/riding trails, access to the American River, playing fields, and an 18 hole golf course, named by Golf Digest as one of the 75 best courses in the nation. I'm there often walking my dog or riding my bike. The park is populated with many deer and wild turkeys along with the usual California forest animals. Open from sunrise to sunset; $5 entry fee for vehicles. Check out the Effie Yeaw Nature Center in the park for wonderful animal exhibits.

I ended up talking to one of the volunteers and learned a lot about the trees that are in the garden. My experience at the park was informative and very relaxing. Can't wait to go back and see the tulips in spring.
