Casa cu Zorele

In the heart of medieval Transylvania, few miles to Viscri, Saschiz, Sighisoara, we restored an old Saxon house. In order to keep the intimacy of the house we have only four rooms for guests (each one has a bathroom). The meals, cooked mainly with organic vegetables from our garden, wild fruits, and local farm products are accompanied with great Transylvanian wines. Activities: local tours, visit Saxon heritage by carriage, hiking, bicycle or by car, watch animals or birds, become friend with the bees and much more.

Relaxing and pleasant

THE PLACE 4.5/5 These are two nicely renovated traditional romanian saxon's households. The place is relaxing, the inner courtyards maintain their rural flavor, and the owners' overall care for the premises is obvious. We had a very large room, with comfortable beds and a simple design that tries to evoke a traditional Romanian interior. The houses are situated in a quiet area of the village. I might be too demanding here but the authentic traditional design concept was not taken as far as one expects reading the online descriptions and reviews...It goes well for the main household with the restaurant area, but in the rooms one finds beautiful vintage furniture (either original or nicely crafted in a similar fashion) beside cheap decorations, and the bathroom is mostly what you would find in most Romanian accommodations, no more traditional design (or any design), tame finishings and objects (with the exception of the sink counter). It isn't bothering, but travelling through other villages and checking venues in the similar category lets one see that there is still room to improve here. BREAKFAST 3/5 The breakfast was quite generous, although it lacked variety and wasn't well suited for vegetarians or people looking for a lighter day-starter. We had expected products were really from the local farms (and some were, like honey, bread, etc.) but were surprised to get tasteless tomatoes like those in any supermarket, and same with cheese and cold meats. Overall the breakfast does not entirely fit in the 'high-end rural/traditional tourism' category the venue claims. COFFEE AND TEA 2/5 If you are a little bit into quality coffee, you need to find another place to drink your morning booster. Here they serve poor filter coffee, with a burnt, cardboard, overextracted taste and tea-like texture. Again, given the claimed tourism profile of the venue, we had expected a variety of herbal infusions that Romanians traditionally brew all over the country (chamomile, mint, hardhay, jasmine, and so on can easily be picked out or bought from local villagers who pick and dry these herbs anyway) , but were surprised to only be given the options of cheap tea-bags that one finds in any store. DINNER 5/5 Excellent food, well cooked, large meals! The wine and spirits are of great quality. The only downside was that they only served dinner beginning with 19.30 (we wish there was a little bit of flexibility here), and given the rich menu (two courses plus dessert), it was a little bit too much food too late in the afternoon for us, but that might suit other people's eating habits. HOSTS AND SERVICE 5/5 The hosts are really nice people, we especially enjoyed Mr. Tibi's politeness and sense of humor, he has a natural way of making people feel comfortable and welcome and is a great story teller, also knowing to listen to his guests and offer room for others to participate in conversations. OVERALL 4/5 A relaxing, wonderful rural experience, in a culturally rich area of the country, with great service and delicious, abundant meals. Breakfast and coffe/tea were disappointing for us given the expected authenticity and 'ruralness', and the interior design could receive more attention and cultural consistency here and there.

Casa Kraus

The former parish house of the old village of Deutsch-Kreuz (Crit) in Transylvania, has been rebuilt as per the original designs and converted into a premium retreat. Hence its rooms still resemble the austere feeling of the Saxon homes, whilst inviting for all guests who can enjoy a cozy atmosphere . From hand-painted furniture (restored by craftsmen in the area) through to the original decorations, everything has been carefully revived so that people around the world staying here are able to truly experience the Saxon way of life. Yet, it is comfortable and upgraded to the 21st Century. Fit and finish and modern amenities work quite well with the traditional / modern restaurant, so you can eat the Saxon way or just your way. Casa Kraus aims at keeping the history alive, a destination for all travelers wishing to experience authenticity and comfort in Transylvania. Far away from the city. In a place where you feel you’re welcome just as you open the door. Casa Kraus is the meeting point of different approaches for those for whom travel is a lifestyle! Our facilities include the children's playground, a large green terrace, free private parking and free Wi-fi. Furthermore, each room is named after a Saxon person born in Transylvania, just like our guests feel truly like Saxons home. All rooms include a private bathroom with shower.

Lovely friendly staff, tasty food & Unique Venue

We came to Crit to visit the church next door which is managed by one of the owners of this hotel restaurant. After viewing the church we asked for advice on where to eat and he walked us here - and I'm glad he did. I had a Moldovan traditional soup and my partner had ribs and roast veg. Both were delicious and reasonably priced: as well as them accepting card which makes life easier. The restaurant is in an arched cavern and is so atmospheric. It was all completely renovated 10 years ago while keeping in mind the traditional features and is stunning. The staff all speak great English and are so friendly. Everything is clean, modern, friendly, tasty - cant complain. Worth a visit!

La Hansi in Crit

Just perfect

Reviewed By Damnsmartblonde

We have chosen La Hansi for a short trip in Transylvania; we were expecting it to be beautiful, but the location exceeded our expectations. The large yard, filled with flowers and trees was really relaxing and well maintained. There were also some cute animals that we interacted with, like rabbits, dogs, donkeys and horses, and this proved to add lots of fun to our stay. We stayed in one of the houses available, a true traditional house, beautifully decorated, which brought us back to centuries ago and really disconnected us from the crazy everyday life. The bathroom had all amenities and every room was super clean. The bed was very comfortable. And then there was the food...a super delicious breakfast and supper, the lady in the kitchen is a true master and we couldn't have enough of her food! The owner of the location was very friendly and helpful. All in all, there is nothing negative to say about La Hansi and this is why I chose this review’s title: Just perfect.

Not like in the description ...

We were in a short hollyday with the family and a small child for what was supposed to be an authentically transilvania experience with fresh food from the garden and also suited for small children, but it wasn’t like this: the food was tasty enough, but not from the private garten but bought from supermarket ( the bread icluded, even if you have a bakery in the village) and nothing to eat for a small child. The wifi is only in the dinnig room, an not in the rooms even if it’s said you have it everywhere. The rooms were dirty, i won’t start to describe ( pitty for the potential of the house). -The baby chair was during our stay not only once cleand! The land lady is sort of nice but pretty greedy and you just receive few light and no warming even if you need it. It’s sad, because the potential is quite big and could be a nice location. I don’t recommend it for families with small children.
