November 4, 2021 Enriqueta Cusson

Serious divers have long flocked to Curacao. Whether you’re looking for a challenging wall dive or a shallow snorkeling spot, you’ll find it here. Beaches, of course, are another big draw. With sugar-fine sand and calm waters, they’re perfect for kids. And make sure to explore Willemstad, Curacao’s capital city. Its charming pastel buildings and equally colorful history earned it recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage City.

Maritime Museum Curacao

The Maritime Museum Curaçao takes you on a discovery tour of more then 500 years maritime history of Curaçao. The story-line is illustrated through a permanent exhibition consisting of displays with authentic nautical charts, ship models and navigation equipment combined with audiovisual stations...an attraction not to be missed. As well as the exhibition, the museum also offers a number of interesting tours. Besides a tour through the museum, you also can visit a unique 21' x 9' scale model of the Curaçao Shell refinery, which is set up in a separate exhibition hall of the museum. On Saturday we offer the renowned harbor tour, where we offer you to view Willemstad and the harbor area from our water taxi. An exiting fun tour for the whole family.

We were lucky to visit on a Saturday when there was a harbor tour. The museum presented an interesting glimpse into Curaçao maritime history that complimented the very informative harbor tour. The video in the museum was well done but the star was the harbor tour

Curacao Museum

Houses an extensive antique furniture collection and paintings by local artists.

Originally a hospital focussing on the military suffering with yellow fever, this is a beautiful building in its own right. One hospital ward now displays antique living and dining furniture made in Curacao in the early days of the colony. Another ward features bedroom furniture including baby cribs. Other wards are full of paintings. The grounds are full of sculptures and there is another art gallery in the garden. Definitely worth a visit.
