Port Fairy Historical Society Museum and Archives

Welcome to the Port Fairy Museum and Archives. We are a local history museum with both permanent and changing displays. Our museum is located in the historic Port Fairy Courthouse. The courtroom is intact with its original court furniture. There are five other rooms with exhibits including: early pioneers, whaling, shipping and shipwrecks. Our extensive Archives allows our research officers to assist you with information on many topics including: people, families, buildings and events. Archivists are available on Saturdays during opening hours or by appointment. Fees are payable for this service. Photographs from our large collection are available for sale. Dating from the mid 1800’s, they are a fascinating visual record of the history of our town and people. There are some 30 book titles available for purchase. The subjects cover many interesting aspects of Port Fairy’s history. The courtroom may be hired as a unique venue for a wedding ceremony and can cater for up to 75 guests.
