Marayoor Sandalwood Forest

Reviewed By IndusHolidaysTeam - Kochi (Cochin), India

Marayoor is a small town located around 40 kms from Munnar. Sandalwood forest is one of the main attractions here. The forest is on the way to Chinnar wildlife sanctuary. Here you will get to see acres of land covered with huge sandal wood trees. This is a protected area and each tree is numbered. Trees are fenced. You can just watch them from a distance. Tampering them is a serious offense and you might land up in jail. If you pass by during evenings, there are chances of spotting a deer, bison or an elephant.

Periyar Tiger Reserve forest

Reviewed By Shanmugam147 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

we, a group of 10 people, joined this trip to see nature closer. we were given food, protective socks to prevent leeches and water. we were briefed a bit and we took off, first was the walk through the forest with 4 guides and 1 armed ranger. they were extremely knowledgeable and very familiar with the forest. they were friendly and helpful. bamboo rafting was exciting as the lake was huge. we saw many wild animals and we had a lifetime experience with a startled elephant which was on the shore while we were on the raft. the forest is preserved and protected by the government and tourists are allowed with a reasonable fee. the trek was not too deep. we were grateful to Arumugam, Theivam, Pandiyan, Joseph and armed ranger Ganesh whom were prepared to risk their life to save ours. foreign tourists must go to experience tropical forest with its wild life. will certainly recommend to everyone. thank you guys.!!!!!!
