5 Classes & Workshops in San Lorenzo That You Shouldn't Miss

June 1, 2021 Tambra Mccollister

Florence is an art historian’s dream. The Galleria dell'Accademia bursts with works by Michelangelo, who is entombed within the frescoed walls of the Basilica di Santa Croce. Budding photographers can snap pics of the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and serious shoppers can spend a blissful afternoon wandering the shops of Piazza Santo Spirito. Tuscan cuisine pays homage to the region’s bounty. Swipe a hunk of crusty bread across a pool of local olive oil and you’ll be instantly transported to your happiest place.

Wanna be Italiano!

Our classes are offered as a view into a typical Tuscan cuisine. Classes are small and intimate. First step: grocery shopping at the central market!! You will go shopping with the chef at the central market picking up the ingredients for your lunch. You will meet the butchers, the bakers, and the farmers selling vegetables from their gardens. You will learn how to distinguish the highest quality ingredients and as an added bonus, how to bargain! You will taste local foods & wines. After this fun experience you will reach the house and start the lessons in a private kitchen. A true hands-on experience, and you will prepare your own meal, made of Bruschetta, Fresh Home-made Pasta, and a main course, accompanied with a selection of Chianti wines. As you will eat your own food, you’d better be an attentive student while the Chef is teaching!

This was a great experience. We could’ve skipped the marketplace in the morning but the cooking and endless wine drinking was fantastic. It was so satisfying making our pasta from scratch and seeing how to make 2 kinds of sauces. It was a ton of fun and my teenagers loved it. They can’t wait to get home and cook a meal!

This was the first cooking class my wife and I ever attended and it will be a very hard act to follow. It was a great overall experience. While the atmosphere was fun and welcoming of questions, Ginevra and the instructor were professional and very helpful. The attention to detail and information provided were outstanding. Ending the class by enjoying our home made spaghetti amatriciana with a glass of wine and chatting was very satisfying. I absolutely recommend this course.
