Mile High Swinging Bridge

We were on a bike trip taking in the Blue Ridge Parkway when we explored Grandfather Mountain and the Swinging Bridge. Road was great to the top. Not too crowded despite the bridge having been closed for a short time because of a thunderstorm passing by. Definitely worth the climb, picturesque with the fog and sun clearing. Only draw back was price to get in. Motorcycle was the same price as a car full of people.

Lake Lure Flowering Bridge

The volunteers have done a wonderful job decorating this old bridge over the Broad River into a garden of flowers and shrubs. The collection of plants is extensive and they are clearly marked with their name. The bridge is suitable for people of all ages and even those with mobility issues. You can walk it in a few minutes if time is limited.

Old Iron Bridge

If you're looking for a quiet & beautiful setting off the beaten path, this is it. My wife & I took the time to drive the 4-5 miles off Highway 107 (a good portion of which is a gravel drive) and are so glad we did. The Chattagoo River flows beneath the bridge and there are smaller type falls on either side. We were able to take steps down to the water on one side of the bridge. We also saw what appeared to be a walking path but did not explore it due to mud from rains the previous night.
