A lovely little spot for quite a nice champagne. We tasted and then purchased a 2015 vintage blanc de noirs. It felt like being in someone’s house. It was slightly awkward being just two of us for the tasting but of course a little champagne relieves the tension. In nicer weather it would be fun to sit outside.

Champagne Jacquinot & Fils

Pierre Jacquinot and his 2 sons Jacques and Jean-Guy have created champagne Jacquinot & Fils in 1947. Mr Pierre Jacquinot after the First World War during which has been seriously injured by the “Gas Moutarde” at 18 years old, has started to convert his family polyculture farm into a vineyard. He became at that time a Grape Broker for Champagne Mercier and was buying and selling grapes from local Grape Growers. In 1929 he set up his own pressing centre to process the purchased grapes. During all that times in winter he was going on the French Riviera to leave there to recover his health. And to sustain there he was selling Champagne under the brand Champagne Watteau. After the Second World War with his 2 sons he decided to produce his own Champagne while having all the facilities: a vineyard, a pressing centre, a small winery and a network of customers. But at that time it was impossible to sell your own Champagne when you where installed in a small village. That is why they moved to a Winery in Epernay. Nowadays the family owns a vineyard of 17 ha with the traditional 3 grape varietals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. VISIT BY BOOKING ONLY

We were a group of ten friends, it was reviewed as being outstanding, and it was for all of us, the most outstanding. Owner operated, his hands across everything. Caves were so authentic and beautiful. Highly knowledgeable tour by the man himself. But most important their champagne is fantastic and extremely affordable. Thank you Jacquinot and Fils for being true to your passion.

As we walked Avenue de Champagne we first ran in to Moet Chandon & reserved an afternoon tour & tasting. We then continued on looking at all of the houses & trying to determine where we may want to stop for a tasting. As we made our way to nearly the end of the Avenue we spotted Elodie D. We saw several patrons sitting in a lovely (not to formal) garden. We went in to check it out & like everyone else's comments we were delighted by stories of this champagne house & it's history of being in one family for generations & for the last 4 generations has been run by the women in the family. Fabrice (the husband/co-owner) was friendly & informative of the region & of their vineyards & wine growing production. He told us about each of their most popular vintages so we settled in with a delicious charcuterie tray & a few glasses of champagne. We spent a lovely 2 hours sipping, eating & chatting with Fabrice. We LOVED their champagne & their hospitality. Highly recommended so keep walking down the avenue until you find it. Worth the walk.

An outstanding experience! We booked online, and arrived for a 10AM tour and tasting. The tour was conducted wonderfully by a knowledgeable guide, and the cellars are quite beautiful. The tasting was superb, with very generous pours of some fascinating and delicious wines. Their wines are truly unique among producers because of the oak barrel ageing, and well worth visiting for the superb value. We were also very appreciative that our dog (carried in a small backpack) was welcomed through the entire tour and tasting. A lovely experience, and we will certainly be back to stock up every time we are nearby!!

Only three grape varieties are allowed in genuine champagne -- pinot noir, pinor meunier and chadonnay. An all-chardonnay wine is called "blanc de blanc" or "white of white." Ponot noir is a red grape. Pinot noir and chardonnay are the main chanpagne varieties. The Georges Cartier cellers are enjoyable, in particular the tour of the caves, as the cellars are called. You will be given a variety of champagnes to taste. Please bear in mind that the main brands are now owned by multinational .corporations and the independent houses often have a hard time being noticed. If you do not have much experience in tasting champagne, you may find your tasting a little surprising..
