Woodbridge Winery

In 1979 Robert Mondavi came back to his boyhood home in Lodi. Having grown up on Pine Street, and familiar with the area’s reputation for producing excellent fruit, Robert looked to his home region to produce quality wine at an affordable price. The result is Woodbridge Winery: • The first winery in the region to convert to single label wine production; • The pioneer of the gentle direct-to-press operation for white wines; • The first winery in the super premium category to produce and vintage date varietally labeled wines and… • Now one of the top varietal wine brands in the United States. Our history and our legacy are integral to the evolution of Lodi as a quality wine growing region.

Macchia Wines

Reviewed By HouseBoy7 - Castro Valley, United States

On our last trip to Lodi we visited about a dozen wineries with another couple from Texas. We discovered many good wineries, but none that equaled Macchia for quality and value. The tasting room staff treated us like family. The Texas couple purchased a case of wine and joined their club at the same time. We enjoyed the Texan's enthusiasm when he tried their wines. Put the winery at the top of your list when in the area.

Peirano Estate Vineyards - Tasing Room

Reviewed By andreasg223 - Berkeley, United States

We had bought a case of wine at Dancing Coyote (another winery you should visit) online several months earlier, and it was time to go pick it up. This brought us to the Lodi area. About nine months earlier, when we were at Bokisch (another winery you should visit) we ran into a retired enology professor from UC Davis. We compared wineries that we liked, and there was a lot of overlap. He suggested that we visit Peirano. It is quite close to Dancing Coyote, so we went. Oddly enough, the enology professor was there. Think of the odds! In any case, we bought three cases of wine. Are these the best wines of any particular variety we have ever had? No. Are these great values if you buy a case? Absolutely. We have arrangements with several wineries, and buy multiple cases from each of them each year, and we supplement this with wines that are more modestly priced and great for everyday consumption. I felt that Peirano offered a great value on numerous wines. If you buy a case, it is $7/bottle. As I said, we left with three cases. I suspect that we will be back to buy multiple cases twice or three times a year. It is such a refreshing change from the ridiculous wine prices that prevail in other wine-growing areas. Yes, Napa, I am talking about you. There is also no tasting fee, but let me suggest that if you taste, you buy at least one bottle.
