10 Wine Tours & Tastings in Costa Blanca That You Shouldn't Miss

May 2, 2022 Darleen Reid

Costa Blanca is the name given to Alicante's coastline in Spain, which stretches over 200 kilometers. It is an incredibly popular holiday destination for tourists, because of the marvelous weather and beaches. Costa Blanca is family friendly, thanks to the huge range of activities available there from beaches and golf to museums and parks. There are the beaches, such as Los Náufragos in Torrevieja with its volleyball nets, golden sands and Blue Flag status, or smaller beaches like Serragrosa with its crystal waters, ideal for swimmers. But there are also golf courses (particularly the Villaitana club de golf near Benidorm) and watersports facilities and cultural sites like museums and galleries, such as the La Asegurada Municipal Museum in Alicante which has extensive collections of Spanish art. You will need a couple of weeks on the Costa Blanca just to scratch the surface of its entertainment potential.

We were in Alicante as part of our cruise with Oceania Cruise lines. We were met at the port as we came off the ship, went to a local market for shopping and learning the right ingredients to buy, then to their kitchen and dining room for the spectacular class and hospitality. We had some extra time at the end and they took us by car to hit a few of the local sights as well. My mom needed hearing aid batteries and they even found those for us! Good time and great food. We were stuffed!

So glad we arranged this trip! Alberto was a friendly and enthusiastic guide, the ride was comfortable and the perfect amount of time at both locations. Beautiful views in stunning locations, lots to see and do. We had a delicious ice cream from one of the side streets in Guadalest and a really nice Baguette to take away from the restaurant at the springs (we didn’t want to waste time eating in there and it was quite pricey) The springs were a little chilly for me to swim but it was enjoyable to paddle and sit on the rocks while my partner went in for a dip! We were very lucky as neither place was too overcrowded so I would recommend to go at this time of year as I can imagine the crowds in summer would detract from the serenity!

Spain is famous for its winemaking and arguably produces some of the worlds finest wines and the Costa Blanca is no exception. Located just 30-40 miutes away from Benidorm, you will find the award winning wine making region of Jalon, set in a picturesque valley surrounded by mountains. Jalon is not just famous for its wines though. The valley is lined with almond trees and in February and March when the trees blossom, the sea of pink and white that covers the valley draws people by the coach load, to see the beautiful sight. On a Saturday, Jalon plays host to one of the oldest and largest "rastros" (car boot sales) of the Costa, that draws people from afar to rummage through the goods and antiques on sale. So why not join us for a day out with a difference!

Inclusions: Tour escort/host, Pickup and drop-off from designated meeting points, Air-conditioned vehicle
