10 Tours in Washington DC That You Shouldn't Miss

April 24, 2022 Enedina Augsburger

Washington DC is a hub for American politics and history. Attracting as many school field trips as it does travelers the district offers a peek into the country’s democratic origin. There are plenty of free museums to take advantage of but the real draw here is the memorials and monuments dedicated to great American leaders. Spend some contemplative time at the Reflecting Pool within the National Mall, among the most patriotic places in the country.

Oleta is a spectacular company. Thoughtful, courteous and joyful in their approach to getting you from where you are to where you need to be (and back). Safety is very important to them and they are experts in navigating their large vehicles around busy streets and highways, but you are also likely to leave your experience with a new friend or two at the company. Our children's school has been using Oleta to facilitate class trips for over 15 years and wouldn't consider using anyone else.

We had booked a daytime small group tour and they had to cancel the day of our arrival. They couldn’t have been more helpful to give us some other options. We chose to have a Private Tour with Steve for a discounted price. We are SO happy we made that decision! He picked us up where we were having lunch in Georgetown and we set off for roughly 5 hours of learning and seeing the sights. We were able to pick what attractions we were most interested in seeing and Steve made it all happen. He was full of knowledge and insider information about DC, the buildings, the history and fun gossip. This was my husband’s first trip to DC and while I had lived in VA for 8 years previously we both came away with an even greater appreciation for our Nation’s Capital. I can’t recommend Steve and this tour enough...we got all the photos we wanted, had plenty of options for restrooms and just had a fabulous day all the way around. Next trip we hope to book the Night Tour with Steve to see everything from another perspective. Can’t wait! ????????????

Hands down, our tour guide, Jaime, who played a fantastic Martha Washington was so fun. She has great energy and it's obvious that she loves what she does. If you are looking for a fun ghost tour that takes you to where George Washington was known to partake in libations, this is your tour!
