This eleven day tour begins in Sibiu, the "capital" of Transylvania. As we embark on our road trip throughout Transylvania we will visit a fairy-tale castle, several fortified and wooden churches, immerse ourselves in a rural Roma (gypsy) village, spend two nights in the rural north Maramures region of Romania visiting the unusual Merry Cemetery and also a communist prison, several UNESCO World Heritage sites, and walking tours. Each night's lodging is in a quaint city centre boutique hotel or a rustic rural inn.  We'll take a first-class night train (which you will love or hate!) to Bucharest, Romania's capital. Our final full day we travel by subway and bus to learn about the Ruth School in the Ferentari neighborhood. The afternoon is free to explore Bucharest - making it a memorable day. Our closing meal at this historic Hanu Lui Manuc, which has been welcoming foreign guests and the Romanian elite since 1808, will bring our tour to a close. Have final night in Old Town

I am a seasoned traveler but had never been to Romania. I purposefully did no research in preparation because I wanted to be surprised...and I was. The country and the services of the tour guides far surpassed my expectations. At first, it may seem like a lot of money but we were assured it was 100% inclusive. As a test, I didn't exchange any currency and it was true...my every need and want (frequent ice-cream) was met. Worth every penny! Small groups which will assure lifetime friendships. Go for it!

We went on the Hidden Stories of the Seven Towers tour. I bought the tour through the Questo app and invited the three people I was travelling with to join, so it was exceptional value for 4. This app really gets you to take a good look at your surroundings, something that can be challenging to do when you are trying to keep up with a group. The clues are not so challenging that they take away the fun and leave you frustrated and the information given at each stop is enough to keep your interest without being overly long and boring. This is not for someone who wants an in-depth tour about the history of Sibiu, but if you want to get a feel for the city and have some fun you won't get a much better tour than this.
