We worked with Nerea to organize 2 days of private guides for our overnight in Bilbao on our cruise. Nerea was great to work with, and the two historical walking and Pinxtos tours were amazing. We have done a lot of private tours in our travels in Europe and our two private guides, 1 in San Sebastian and 1 in Bilbao were 2 of the best we ever had. I wish I could remember the ladies names that took us around, but they were FANTASTIC! The food they shared with us was amazing. They took us to very different places in each city, but places that they liked to visit is locals. The Pinxtos were amazing, the wine was amazing, the history tours were great. The guides were so knowledgable, personable, flexible, and they made us fall in love with the region of Spain. You cannot go wrong with the service and the guides provided by Basque Destinations. Our guide in Bilbao even walked around the Guggenheim with us and explained things (even though techinically it is not legal to do so), and for people who are not versed in Modern Art, it was very impactful, educational, and made the experience so much more enjoyable. I wish I could remember the women's names, but I waited too long to write the review...but you will not be disappointed with the private tours created by Nerea and her team.

8. Vitoria and Añana Salt Valley small group tour, lunch included
We pick you up at your hotel and head first to Añana Salt Valley, where we will learn everything about the traditional way of producing the 'white gold' from local experts (visit lasts around 1.5 hours). Later we will go to Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Basque autonomic region. After lunch there, we will go sightseeing, admiring the medieval old town on top of a hill among other spots (total visit time around 2 hours). At around 17:00pm we will head back to San Sebastian and drop you off at your hotel.

The explanations provided during all the tour were accurate and very extensive but at the same time funny. The tour guide was fantastic. He was a local young guy full of energy and good vibes. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting San Sebastian.

In the morning, we will meet in the Añana Salt Valley, located east of Vitoria-Gasteiz, where we will get to know salt, nature's only edible stone, and its properties. It includes salt tasting. Following this, transfer to Vitoria-Gasteiz and lunch at a traditional restaurant. In the afternoon, we will go to the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Gothic style and located in the highest part of the hill in which the primitive city was settled on the village of "Gasteiz". Known internationally for being an inspiration to give continuity to the work of Ken Follett. "The Pillars of the Earth" We include the guided tour of this architectural jewel.
