You will also discover Guadalajara's fundamental landmarks, including: 1. The Cathedral 2. Hospicio Cabañas (home to the murals of Jose Clemente Orozco) 3. Mercado Libertad (the biggest indoor market in Latin America) 4. Chapultepec cultural corridor. In this private food experience you will visit 2 traditional, working-class markets to taste Guadalajara's most emblematic dishes: 1. Tacos de Barbacoa: shredded beef tacos with a unique mix of spices, 2. Torta ahogada: Mexico’s version of pulled pork, served in a salsa-drowned crispy sandwich, 3. Birria: a juicy and delicious hearty goat stew. Served with hand-made tortillas, lime, onions, salsa. Our experience will begin in San Juan de Dios, the biggest indoor market in Latin America and the ultimate food and shopping paradise! Here we will visit a taco stand that I’ve known since childhood to try barbacoa. We'll also try tortas ahogadas at the market's most traditional stand. Then we will visit Mercado Corona to taste the seasonal food products. As we explore, I will explain the origins of Mexican cuisine and the city's history. We will also admire the Cathedral and its surrounding landmarks. Finally, we will visit the 19th-century neighbourhood of Nueve Esquinas to try birria.
