Dauren was great in the planning of our 4 day trip and always replied swiftly to any questions I had. He took us for a very nice lunch in Ulgii, visited the museum, before heading to Sahsai where we were staying the night with the Eagle hunter’s family. They made us feel so welcome and provided us with snacks and milky tea. Then we drove to see the stone man monument nearby and had delicious homemade buuz for dinner. The next morning we left for Lake Tolboo. Our camp was right next to the lake and had a beautiful view. After a quick swim and a walk, Dauren made us some delicious shish kebabs. On the way back to Ulgii, we stopped at a ger and got to try fermented horse milk (airag) and watch the milking of the mares. This was a memorable experience for myself and my friend. Again, the nomadic family were so hospitable even though it wasn’t part of the trip and they hadn’t been expecting us. Then we had some free time in Ulgii for shopping and lunch, before Dauren collected us from our hotel to go and see Friendship Hill overlooking the whole town. We then went to a lovely Turkish restaurant for dinner. Dauren took care of everything and we were well looked after from start to end. He even made us breakfast before our flight back to UB. I will definitely be using Discover Altai for any other trips in Mongolia and highly recommend him. Thanks for showing us around your beautiful province, I look forward to returning one day.

We spent the Lunar New Year with a local family. It was a truly incredible experience. We loved how gracious and welcoming our hosts were and are very appreciative that they included us in their traditions and celebration. We were really looking forward to this trip it and was the corner stone of our trip to Mongolia. It did not disappoint. Our guide, Ebo was amazing. He was funny and knowledgable. I really enjoyed the stories he shared of his experiences and life in Mongolia. He went above and beyond to help us when things were not going smoothly or expected. Oyuna, our trip coordinator was super knowledgable and provided great advice when planning our trip. Her communication when we had to rebook some trains and flights unexpectedly was great. She kept us in the loop as to what was going on an made us feel reassured that everything would be taken care of. Our driver had a impressive knowledge of the roads and directions. He was a skilled driver and made us feel safe in all conditions. We did unexpectedly have another couple join us on the trip last minute. They did confirm that we were ok with the change and refunded us some money because of it.

Everything just worked out on this tour i did in nov 2019. Actually mongolian ways was one of the few actually offering during this offseason time of the year. Both guide and driver have proofen excellent organizational, driving, translating skills and made everytjing possible. One night for example was really cold so they spontanipusly organized a warmer place for the next day. A lot was organized according to the situation which gave maximum flexibility. We visited places which are not usually on the tourists list as for example a coal mine. I was never pressured to hurry up or and still everything worked out because the dtiver was so well connected with the locals. And of course... the sights I saw where amazing.

Mongolia for 21 days as incredible. Nurka proved to be a well organised, trusted and a dedicated guide. She speaks very good English and talks with enthusiasm about Mongolia, food, cultured its history as well as providing insight into Mongolia customs. We enjoyed tea parties, games and also got to mix with the locals who were friendly and kind people who showed us their herds and how to make traditional cake. Part of the activities was hiking for 9 days where she led us into touristic sites and wonderful sceneries surrounded by beautiful lakes and panorama views, which thoroughly enjoyed and took many photos!. She was knowledgeable about all the routes we took provided us with a packed and varied programmes, helped organise our yaks and the tents were well equipped with good gear to keep us dry during rainy days. it was an amazing and unforgettable experience! She also had an incredible team who supported her all along including skilful drivers who drove us through unmarked roads in such a vast place, and Boogy the cook, who was enthusiastic and passionate about his cooking sckill he made us delicious food that we enjoyed. All in all I deeply thank Nurka for this wonderful trip were we felt safe and welcome. Our happiness was always her top priority and I highly recommend Nurka as a good and well experienced guide also I think the August month was a best choice to visit Mongolia.

In 2019 we went off in search of an authentic Mongolian party and celebration to end our season. In September 2019 we were made to feel like the honoured guests at the Alma Kuk Eagle Festival in tiny Ulaankhus soum, Bayan Olgii province, Mongolia’s western-most region. Our guests got to race in the Whipping Game, and even release a treasured golden eagle back into the wild, something that has never been featured in a ‘traditional’ eagle festival line-up. We also offer an opportunity to raft the Khovd river for 3-4 days post-Games, and fly home from Khovd rather than Olgii. The truly adventurous soul can combine riding, hiking, eagle hunting, and then pack rafting, all in a fortnight. For those who come to ride, you will find the quality of the horses and the riding unsurpassed, and also have the chance to spot wildlife from the saddle that would make safari guests jealous. Ibex, argali sheep, wolves and snow leopards make their homes in these exceptionally remote regions.

Inclusions: Dinner, Dinner, All riding and pack horses - seven full days of fully supported, fully escorted riding, Internal flights to Uvs and home from Olgii, All food and board throughout the trip

Exclusions: International flights to and from Mongolia

I rode with the guys in 2016 for around 2 weeks in a small and fun group of individuals, who were all coming to Mongolia for different reasons - may this have been to take a break from busy jobs or metropolis cities, recovery from loss or heartbreak, a way to find themselves or just to enjoy a beautiful outdoor adventure with like minded people. Mongolia is probably the most beautiful place that I have ever had the luck to be in. A seemingly unlimited steppe reaches as far as the eye can see, gorgeous mountain ridges lining paradise-esque valleys with crystal clear rivers running to their mighty feet, where sheep, cattle and yak are grazing next to herds of wild horses. Morindoo has organized a beautiful route through the Ovorkhangai province, our group was accompanied by two incredibly gifted herders who led the way and taught us some of their knowledge about horses. The days were spent in the saddle and the evenings by the camp fire - Morindoo had a logistics car catching up with us riders, whenever we reached to our next camping location for the night, so we could enjoy some creature comforts and a tasty dinner. The team behind Morindoo has more than 10 years experience in organizing adventure trips of all formats in the country and they are working closely with the local community to create the best possible experience for their guests / riders / adventure seekers. I highly recommend them and would definitely go on another trip with Morindoo!

We got in touch quite late but right from the beginning, Baldyrgan the owner of Western Mongolia Tours was very responsive. We received replies to any questions really quickly and WMT provided us with extra sleeping bags as we did not have any. Arriving by plane on day 1 the team was waiting and we were ready to go. We had a great team: guide, driver, cook. We chose to travel to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, covering the White River Valley, Potania Glacier (to which we travelled by horse and camel with a group of ver experienced Tuva guides), Malchin Peak. It snowed and we got quite cold so instead of the tent, our guide got a Ger for all of us. This was'nt included in the itinerary but one of those extra unexpected things that made the trip great. The lakes, petroglyphs, dear stones and some stunning views followed. We also stayed with a friednly eagle hunter family. Baldyrgan and his team are very experienced, and know many of the people along the the way really well. This makes the journey smoother and opened doors for us. An impromptu visit to a family along the way ended up being a really nice afternoon, asking questions and eating local delicacies and drinking Mongolian Vodka made with cheese! We had some tasty food prepared by Danko who is a great cook and was always cheerful even very early on pretty cold rainy mornings! Bano, our guide, was really knowlegeable and also patient with us as we climbed Malchin Peak at our inexperienced slow pace. Our driver was used to the route & navigated difficult terrain with the russian van (a vehicle he was very familiar with) with relative ease. This was pretty reassuring and meant that we could actually enjoy the off-road trip as well. The journey was very well prepared and the team was clearly experienced and had packed and been provided by WMT with all the right things even when we had not thought of them. Returning to Olgii we had an extra few days and Baldyrgan went out of his way to help us out, show us around and bring us to the airport. We felt well cared for. We can really recommend Western Mongolia Tours as an experienced professional company.
