We spent a night at the Quinta da Pacheca and had a very pleasant time. The hotel itself has a tasteful mix of new build around older buildings. In terms of location, the Quinta is right in a bend on the Douro, surrounded by vineyards. We stayed in the new rooms (the old rooms were under renovation). The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The restaurant was very good. The service was friendly and attentive. I was struck by how quiet it was. Even though there are some event spaces and the night we stayed there was a large party with music - surprisingly there was little or no noise leaking into the rest of the hotel.

With a breathtaking view over the Douro River and the Tedo River, it is in the heart of the Douro Wine Region that the Vila Gale Douro Vineyards is set. With a strong component of agro and wine tourism, this unit extends across the centuries-old Val Moreira Estate. Featuring only seven rooms in a first phase, Vila Gale Douro Vineyards stands out for its location, charm and exclusivity.
What is good: The view, the cleanliness, the cocktails, the pool; What is Medium: The mattress, (average but OK) pillows (too high and very hot - two pillows each should be different thicknesses). The rooms - lovely now while new, but I can see they will suffer from wear and tear within months. The shower room walls are made of plaster board and the toilet and shower are either side of the basin unit. The toilet door, like the shower door, is open at the top so any bad smells from the former can be shared in the bedroom. The breakfast - OK, but no jam. Had to ask for black tea bags. Would be nice if the drinks were served, particularly for the less mobile. What is bad: The winding road up to the rooms (goes on for km’s) with sharp bends. The signs. Tiny brown, with symbols that can’t be seen/understood easily if you drive by or in the dark. How do you know that a plate/knife/fork picture is also the Hotel Bar? The steps, oh boy the steps, there must be 1000’s. Some of which are not the normal maximum height of 18cm, but at least 20cm or more. My knees know. And the lovely granite "calçada" paving has occasional missing stones or loose stones which are serious trip hazards. No wheel chairs possible at this establishment and anyone who is unsteady or uses a walking stick is at great risk of tripping or falling. The Food/Bar area: Was soulless - like a posh school dining hall (but with a great view). NO information in rooms: - just referring you to an app. if you can’t or don’t want to use this app then the communication of everything - meals, menus, where is the bar, towels for the pool you have to dial 9 to ask. Who wants to ask "What are you facilities?" I HATE using the phone. You might only get to find out what you missed when you LEAVE… if you are lucky. There are instructions near the pool not to use the room towels - I happened to find a "pool towel" left by another guest on a sun bed - but no information that they were available and where to get them from. I don’t imagine that the app tells you any of this either.

Lovely place to get away from city stress. The surroundings ar fantastic and the only noise that we hear is the pool water falling or the river when we open the house window. The place was very well designed by D. Gloria, it's cosy and makes you feel at home. The houses are well equipped with everything that we needed and very well decor. The kitchen has a small fridge that serves the purpose and has all the equipment to cook a good meal. It has also a Yoga place for meditation just near the river and a path that takes to the mountains to enjoy sightseeing. There is also a young "chef" that can make you a very good meal for dinner if you don't want to drive to nearest restaurant. The breakfast is quite good, it's not like an hotel buffet, but all the food is very fresh and high quality and most homemade. The homemade jams and marmalade and the best and you freshly cooked scrambled eggs are fantastic. We will return for sure!

A wonderful place in the head of the town. The staff are lovely and without asking my clothes are laundered and ironed and left on my bed. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, shower is amazing. Breakfast is continental and plentiful, always laid out beautifully. The management are friendly and accommodating, especially when you are a long way from home; a friendly face makes all the difference. A real gem of a hotel

This is one of the best stays I had in Europe so far. Facilities, services are similar to a 5-star property. Big spacious washroom and bedroom with all the best amenities and toiletries. We had the one-bedroom with external jacuzzi. This room also had an outdoor seating arrangement which total enhances the experience. The view from the rooms and the pool are calming. The property layout is set in a step format with benches and swings for the guest to enjoy the view. They also had a good spread for breakfast. Both the ladies who checked us in were very friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to do a late check-out.

No volvería.

De gastheer was heel vriendelijk en gaf ons goede uitleg. De kamers krijgen van ons een 10/10. Zwembad was ook aanwezig en goed onderhouden. Wij raden deze bnb zeker aan! Het was top.
