Hundreds of dollars a night, all for a glorified motel

Arrived at the room to find it smelling like dog pee, with dirty stained sheets on one of the beds, and more dirty stained sheets shoved unceremoniously into the closet. I had to call twice just to get housekeeping there to bring us fresh sheets. On the third night of our stay, we found a roach in the room. For the absurdly steep price the hotel charged we ended up with a stay than some motels I've stayed at. A definite miss.

Reviewed By anomymousWe love the two room suite, so the size was great. Upon arrival, noticed the toilet seat was loose, and one of the bathroom lights kept flickering off and on. My husband was able to fix the toilet seat. So needs some updating, and maintenance. Loved the beach bar, pool and other amenities it has to offer. Great the ocean front view and big balcony. And the screens on the door was awesome, so bugs wouldn't come in! Love to keep it open a bit at night to hear the ocean waves. The only thing that was disappointing was no maid service. I was lucky enough to pass a maid on the way to the room, and was able to grab some towels. But they never came and took the towels or the trash. I did go down to the desk to get some more towels and asked for a trash bag. She said she would have housekeeping bring up a bag, but they never did. Other than that, it was great, and we'll definitely be back. I just hope they do better with housekeeping next time.

We are located directly on the beach with ocean front rooms & balconies. Spacious Rooms and Two-Room Suites include flat screen TV's, pillow top mattresses, and fully equipped kitchens with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, and toaster. We were on the first floor and loved we could walk right outside our room - 2 chairs, 2 lounges and a table with 4 chairs. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The Customer Service with all the employees was great. We did not meet one unhappy employee. I rarely give a hotel 5 stars but this one deserves it. The girl checking up was did a great job. She was there to answer any questions we had - I am sorry I did not get her name. The beach is steps away. If you choose you can rent two chairs and an umbrella on the beach for $48.00 each day. We chose to bring our own. The pool is very small but we never used it. Coffee and tea in the lobby in the morning. There are also newspapers there. We took the tram car to the end of the boardwalk just to see what was around. The cost is 4.00 per person each way. Enjoyed the ride. Coastal Salt restaurant is a block away. Very good. Much cheaper than the drinks at the Captains Table. $19.00 and plus tip $4.00 - Total Cost $23.00 for a Bloody Mary - Outrageous. We will not go back to the Captain's Table for drinks - however dinner was delicious. We also ate at Pit and Pub - 28th St. - Simply Wonderful and reasonable. We will certainly stay at the Marriot our next trip to Ocean City, Md.

Ocean Front Room is the Only Way to Go!!
Reviewed By Allan TWife & I had to get away as work was being done in our home due to water damage. So we drove to OC just 2 hours away. Selected the Commander Hotel based on the best price, room size and location. Staff was great. Location on the boardwalk could not be beat along with being next to the Grotto for fresh pizza. Room had everything we wanted. My wife loved the balcony with 2 really comfortable seats so we could watch the local Seniors have their graduation parade on the boardwalk.
