excellent hotel at good price
Reviewed By terryummaThe most difficult part of the experience was to initially find the hotel, because the tiny streets in town of Shangri-la are not yet updated on google or yahoo map. Once we found it by asking locals, we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the rooms. The rooms were beautiful and extremely clean, and the bathrooms were huge. When we booked, our rate indicated no breakfast included, but it appeared that all guests were served complimentary breakfast. The breakfast options were the same every morning - boiled eggs, porridge, salad, buns, tea - so it was not exciting. They sell premium coffee at extra charge. The biggest downside was that smokers were allowed in breakfast area, just as they are allowed in any other restaurant in China, so we cannot blame the hotel. The staff spoke limited English but they were helpful. The hotel is centrally located in Shangri-la, so we were able to walk around the town with ease. Highly recommend it for visit to Shangri-la.

Reviewed By Dreamer37800788267客栈服务很好,客栈工作人员会提前跟你取得联系,会给你安排车辆免费接你到店.之前还担心到香格里拉会找不到酒店，看来是我多虑了。刚到酒店我就被酒店的装修所吸引,很有当地的藏式特色，看的出来老板很用心。酒店内有一个很大的公共区域，晚上可以做在火炉旁烤火 聊天，听卓玛姐给我们讲当地藏民的民风民俗。卓玛姐给我们免费升级了地暖房间，房间很大 很暖和。个人感觉太好了，强力推荐。

Great authentic stay with a real Tibetan family!
Reviewed By Zezan TA great authentic stay with a real Tibetan family. They helped us with pick up from Lijiang, and drop off at Shangri-la (for a reasonable charge). They cooked delicious meals for us at the restaurant, and helped us with a guide when hiking the gorge. Most of all, they were very friendly and open and we really felt just like guests in their family house.

Reviewed By HaydenOpieWe visited the ground floor restaurant/cafe; would have likely overnighted here as well if we hadn't already ensconced ourselves further up the road. Dinner: hotpot with tea. Wide variety of vegetables available, good selection of dips and condiments. Chinese-style fried dishes and western type food also available. Breakfast: 'continental breakfast' set, with small cup of coffee, toast with butter and jam, boiled egg and strip of bacon. They switched my bacon for another egg quite happily. Notes * Menu is in English and Chinese. Some of the staff speak a wee bit of English. * People smoke inside. * It's basically the sort of backpacker-friendly cafe you often find in random places. p.s. They may have changed the name again. The English signage named it as "Once upon a time in Meili". The photos make it look like it's the same place.

Reviewed By 高晓旸总的来说，给我印象非常不好，但还是分正反两方面说吧。 优点：除了飞来寺收费的观景台以外，这家酒店的天台是观看梅里雪山的最佳位置了。 缺点： 1. 酒店没有空调。据工作人员说夏天不热，不需要开空调。这个因为我去时是冬天，不知道夏天究竟气温怎样，但我觉得一家日均价格接近500元的酒店不配备空调还是不应该的，毕竟空调除了制冷取暖外，还承担了别的很多空气调节的功能，比如我发现当地施工很多，扬尘严重，不能全靠开创来调节室温和通风吧。 2.取暖设备性能不足。我住的房间水暖调到最大功率，本人居住上海，属于中等耐寒体质，11月入住该酒店穿着内衣裹紧被子仍然觉得冷。 3.服务水平较差，个别工作人员的言行甚至令人感到比较严重的不快。举几个例子：第一，退房时表示昨晚水暖不热，居然连一句关心询问身体状况的话都没有，只说他们会去检查设备；第二，同样是电话前台询问水暖使用方法，多问一下便很不耐烦地让我翻阅入住需知；第三，早餐时客人不多，我就坐的餐桌边上放着之前就餐客人的残余食物和餐具，直到我用餐完毕离去都没有收走；第四，早餐问他们有什么饮料，告知有咖啡，我想要一杯茶包冲的茶居然回答没有，然而我的客房内就放着不少市面通行的茶包，难道餐厅会没有？再次询问说有茉莉花茶，我说可以，但是直到用餐完毕离去也没有提供给我。

Rooms Better Than Expected
Reviewed By Clive KWe were put into the Recreation Hotel by the Chinese travel company we were using to visit the Shangri-La area. Despite the rather utilitarian appearance of the reception lobby and stairs area, the rooms were surprisingly pleasant, clean, and nicely decorated. A bit of an unexpected find in fact. It seems however that hotels in Yunnan use solar heating only to heat their water. So I would suggest showering early, as it appears that once the hot water has gone for the evening, there won't be any more until the next day. Breakfast was the usual Chinese fair of noodles or water rice.

Friendly but Basic
Reviewed By williams_ktThe hotel is located quite conveniently close to the Old Town tourist area - up the back end of the Old Town and just a couple of minutes walk to the Museum and Temple - it is probably 20 minutes walk to the new town area. In the old town you can get meals and purchase local products. Very little English is spoken but we got by. No breakfast is available. The room had no air conditioning and we suffered the night with smoke from what seemed like many burning wood fires around the area. The room was basically clean though the carpet was quite badly stained.
