montan HAKATA is a hostel opened in October 2017. We are located in 8 min away from JR Hakata station, 5 min away from Higashihie station and 15 min away from Fukuoka airport. We have dormitory rooms, double rooms, twin rooms, triple rooms, family rooms, quad rooms and japanese style rooms.
Fantastic Find near the Station
Reviewed By BZimm08Montan Hakata seems to be a life saver for many people. We missed our train as our flight was delayed and needed a cheap place to stay for the night within walking distance from the station. My friends, wife, and myself booked Montan Hakata and it was a very pleasant stay. The booking was simple, the staff was great! They have bikes to rent, breakfast, and international beer, among other fun things. We had the traditional tatami room for four people and we all slept comfortably in one room. The room was clean and spacious as was the bathroom. For being a hostel, this place was very clean and modern, I was impressed. It is within walking distance from the station and many attractions in Fukuoka. I highly recommend staying here.

Reviewed By Horace_PufferThis guesthouse is pretty much everything you'd expect. It's clean, tidy, and orderly. Curtains over the beds provide privacy, and the wifi is generally fast enough to do work on. Only a few small sticking points: the space between the lower and upper bunks are far too close. It's impossible to sit up at all in the lower bunk without bumping your head on the upper bunk. Check-in is at 3 p.m., and the front desk won't necessarily be manned until then. Which means that you might be stuck waiting outside for check-in, if you were planning on dropping off your luggage. The common area closes at 12 a.m. I never liked this policy in hostels - I'd prefer accommodations to assume that people are mature enough to maintain sufficient quiet and not disrupt the people sleeping, rather than simply kicking them out of the common area. Other than that, the guesthouse is pretty great - well located and clean. I would still recommend it, but guests should definitely be cognizant about the problems they'll face if they arrive early.

Reviewed By Cyn PBien placé pour visiter la ville. Les chambres et les communs sont propres. Les lits possèdent une lumière une prise et un petit rideau. 1 serviette de bain par jour. Par contre l’eau n’a pas toujours été chaude. Les propriétaires ne comprennent pas bien l’anglais, ce n’est pas très grave mais du coup ils ont tendance à répéter beaucoup l’heure du Check out de peur qu’on n’est pas compris et c’est un peu stressant. Bon compromis si on n’a pas trop d’attentes

The location couldn't be better. Breakfast included, super friendly staff sharing nice tips with you. This is the type of accomodation you want to get!

Reviewed By dorotheebeliveau1234Was there for just one night, but the service was impeccable. They were very helpful and friendly : It was during the Rugby World Cup and they had organize nights to watch the matchs together. Very nice place.

Reviewed By nagemlThe staff were really accommodating and helpful. Great location as it is near to bus station and subway. There’s also a family mart nearby. Few steps away from Kushida Shrine. Will stay here again when we come back to Fukuoka.

A quiet hideout from Covid19
Reviewed By xlneThis cost-friendly hostel is very neat and stylish, with wide bed spaces in the dorm. The layout were also planned well - there is a small personal changing area just before the shower room! New towels were issued for our use every morning. There were many books to peruse at the bookshelves in the common area, so much so that the bookworm in me extended another day just to finish a book I found there. It helps that the whole hostel was almost always quiet. The staff were really helpful with my questions and I had a few lovely chats with Saki. However, there were two areas for improvement. First is the WiFi, which was slow and inconsistent, especially after midnight. I work remotely so I couldn't stay long in a hostel with unreliable WiFi. Second, I was reading in the common room for hours and it gets cold fast. Saki thoughtfully put the portable heater near me when I'm alone there. Although it does help, this is not a feasible move when there are other people using the common room together. In light of my inconveniences, I thought of giving this review 4 stars but on second thought, the flawless hospitality I received here won out. I did enjoy my stay here after all.
