I stayed at the Norther Light Resort & Spa for 4 nights and I felt I was at home. All the staffs are super nice and professional. We stayed at the glass chalet and the view is amazing. Although we didn't get to see the northern light due to snow and cloud, we had amazing time. The foods are delicious and healty. After I came back from the trip I received the pictures :). I want to send 10000x thanks to Lynn and Toby and the staff members.

This motel is amazing. It’s spacious, extremely clean, and the kitchenette is stocked with make-your-own breakfast items, such as eggs, English muffins, oatmeal, cereal, & coffee. And a view of the snow-capped mtns! The bed was super comfortable, which meant a great night’s sleep for us! There’s a little supermarket about 1/2 mile down the street and a laundromat a block away (the one directly across the street is closed).

No sign out front (gps told us we were there) . Trash in the parking lot. Bad part of town. Panhandling out front Paint peeling on building. . No breakfast included, but the highest price we paid from Florida to Alaska. Shower handle had no place to hang it up. Sprayed all over. The young man who checked us in was very nice and so was the young lady in the morning. No coffee available in the lobby. The bed was clean and comfortable. That’s the only good part. I will NOT stay here again. $154 us currency plus $150 deposit! The morning young lady gave us $20 off.

Okay if you're road weary

My first complaint is the noise level. I was very aware of the people in the next room as the floors groaned loudly with every step they took. Same with my room, no matter how gently I moved about my room. Creak! Groan! Yikes! The bed was old and uncomfortable and the sheets were worn and "pilled". Even the mattress pad was terribly thin and tired, as were the towels. Yuck. For the price, I expected more... at least a decent mattress and sheets! Time for an upgrade, Stardust!

Inn On The Lake

Born and raised in the Yukon, Carson Schiffkorn was familiar with Marsh Lake since early childhood. Intrigued by the mystery of the empty log structure standing on the edge of the lake, Carson stepped in one day and knew immediately that he had found his place. It was 1996 and after one year of hard work to transform the vision into reality, the lonesome building became an inn with a "Rustic-Chic" feel of its own. The impressive log structure gets its very unique character from its cathedral ceiling and expansive deck areas overlooking Marsh Lake; and equally from the jaunty ambiance inside highlighted by its massive timbers of Engelmann spruce. An accomplished chef, Carson finds his inspiration in the lodge atmosphere, where guests share the same menu and table. Regularly, visiting chefs from all over the world bring a cosmopolite note during hosted special events, where local flavours are infused with cultural and culinary differences. Over the years Inn on the Lake has hosted a number of wonderful guests and was featured on Martha Stewart Living. Canada's Governor General and artists such as Jann Arden have been among the guests.

Wonderful place to enjoy what the Yukon has to offer

We had a great stay at the Inn on the Lake from Feb 17-21. We enjoyed the spacious and well appointed rooms, the delicious meals and the view of the lake. The staff is so gracious and helpful. They arranged for us to go dog sledding, figuring out how we could fit this in while also seeing the start of the Yukon Quest. We enjoyed snowshoeing from the place, a wonderful trail just across the street. The lake has a trail plowed to either walk or use fat bikes. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. We had high expectations and they were exceeded.

Perfect stop-off in a very remote area. We stopped late but the owner answered the phone and came up to complete the paperwork immediately. Old school paper registration with Mr. Coffee in the room with real coffee and ceramic cups! Room was clean, bed was great. Dog-friendly ("we don't charge for the dog but if he leave's us anything in the room you will be charged accordingly" - loved it!). No road noise or neighbor noise. Great choice!

Possible fire trap; noisy at 2 AM

Reviewed By HainesJunkey

Safety: main bldg (appears to have been built as a single family home) has one steep, narrow stairway down from the 2nd floor where there are 2 bunk rooms having beds for at least 7 and perhaps as many as 11 people. No other exit from second floor was apparent. That one stairway ends in the laundry room/office through which one must go to get to the exits of the building. This arrangement could have the makings of a fire trap and I would not stay there for that reason. There are several wall tents on the property. I do not know what's in them, but I guess that each could sleep 6-8 people. Unless management brings in portapotties for the busy season, there could be long lines to use the 2 bathrooms in the main building. Quiet hours: Signs in the building say 11 PM - 7 Am are "Quiet Hours". At 2 AM two people came back from work and joined 2 other guests. The 4 made loud conversation, thumps and bangs as they moved around for more than an hour drinking beer. I asked them twice to speak more softly and to recognise that other people wanted to sleep. Their response was unsympathetic. It appears that the building is not well insulated for this kind of occasion. I would not stay again in this accommodation for this reason. Comfort: the bunk beds have inexpensive mattresses, relatively new. One of us found the mattress comfortable; the other did not. One of the bunk beds has a ladder to the upper bunk with rungs that are 3/4" square rods. I found those rungs impossible to stand on without shoes. That upper bunk is #9; you may want to avoid it. View: spectacular from the common areas; the bunk room we were in had one tiny window effectively blocked by a bunk bed. The wall tents have no windows. Parking: adequate. Wheelchair access: long ramp to main floor from outside; difficult to manouvre wheelchair on ground floor; hopeless to get wheelchair to second floor.
