Reviewed By mewall21Stayed in the new section of the hotel. It was clean, quiet and had a good full breakfast buffet. I only wish the hotel could have accommodate me. I accidentally booked the wrong date and the hotel didn’t permit the reservation to be changed to the very next day.

Reviewed By WolrdwideThe hotel is not the newest but in good shape and in a nice neighborhood. With the bus the city center is reached in 5 min. Good value - can recommend. Location: The hotel is somewhat outside of Weimar in a very nice neighborhood and opposite the large city Park. Walk to city center abt 15-20 min and there is a bus every15 min (incl in the Weimar card). Parking cost extra. The park is excellent for runners and huge. Rooms: the hotel is not new and it shows in the style, however, rooms are large and we had a bathroom with tub. While the bathroom could use a refurb, the rooms are fine. We looked to the inner court yard which was not very exciting. There is NO safe in the room, but you can leave things w reception. Beverage vending machine on every floor. Breakfast: Given Corona there was no buffet but table service. Still a good choice and the hotel did a good job, although you have to decide beforehand for a time slot. Staff: Friendliness was mixed. Check in took forever.

Often ‘right opposite the train station’ means you are sacrificing something in terms of appearance and slight seediness for the convenience - but not here ! It’s a lovely old hotel (with a nice history), restored several times over the years, with a particularly impressive glass-surrounded restaurant for all meals. Location - as well as being on a pretty square right in front of the train station it’s less than 10 minutes’ easy straight line walk from the museums and the historic old town. There are plenty of nicely located hotels in the centre too by the way - just not as good for train access. The hotel restaurant is a real delight. Go for the breakfast buffet with some of the best prepared hotel bacon I have ever come across - crispy, fat-free and warm - plus all the usual egg, cereal, fruit salad and bread options. Standard coffee good German filter not espresso (though that’s available at the bar); orange juice average. Supper was freshly cooked smallish choice (these do go hand in hand, of course) - have a look at the menu in advance and if there’s something you like the look of eat here, quality is excellent. Staff very friendly; rooms moderate size, very clean, toiletries provided (shower gel and shampoo, no lotion or conditioner). Large non-leaky showers. You can claim a free snack if you forego your room servicing (!) ….. Rooms are non-smoking but they provide a smokers’ lounge for addicts. To be recommended.

Reviewed By jml712The drilling started at 7:30am. I am listening to it in the room as I write. The hotel is currently in the middle of a building site. When we arrived at the hotel two evenings ago, large machinery was breaking up lumps of concrete outside the front door and directly beneath our historic room. We were reluctantly offered a downgrade to a quieter room, with no reduction in price. The staff seemed unconcerned about the issue. As I've been typing the drilling noise has intensified in the "quiet" room. It was audible throughout the day yesterday when we spent time in the room. We were advised by the hotel a couple of days in advance of our arrival that there were some building works in the area which we were assured would not affect our stay at the hotel. Getting in or out of the hotel involves going through a building site. I wish we had stayed somewhere else, and I wasn't wasting time writing this review.

Large and modern
Reviewed By NemoTravelerWe stayed two nights here on a road trip to Germany. The hotel is located next to the Goethe Park and within walking distance of some of the most famous sights in Weimar, such as the Goethe House, the Schiller-Museum, and The Dutchess Anna Amalia Library. Paid underground parking (EUR 20 per day) is available, as the hotel has its own section of the neighboring public parking facility. We had booked a Superior room, which was clean, spacious and equipped with all the amenities you would expect for a first class hotel, such as a safe, coffee making equipment, and A/C. A very good buffet breakfast with a large number of hot and cold items was included in our rate. The hotel is very modern and large with about 140 rooms, and in some respects this may lead to a less cozy feeling than in a smaller boutique style hotel, such as The Elephant, where we stayed last year and enjoyed superior service. Although we had a good stay at the Dorint, we would probably prefer The Elephant for our next stay in Weimar.

For travelers arriving by car, free parking is available. Given the close proximity of popular landmarks, such as Bauhaus-Universitat (0.2 mi) and Russian Orthodox Chapel (0.2 mi), guests of Amalienhof can easily experience some of Weimar's most well known attractions. While in Weimar, you may want to check out some of the restaurants that are a short walk away from Amalienhof, including Scharfe Ecke Weimar (0.3 mi), Köstritzer Schwarzbierhaus (0.3 mi), and 36 Pho Co (0.2 mi). Nice hotel - stayed next door in the apartment house
Reviewed By kimUSAFWell-located to old town. We cannot comment on hotel rooms, as we stayed next door in one of the apartments (no lift). It had a little kitchen, with tiny fridge, and nice bathroom. However, as I mentioned to a clerk - there are no hooks at all in the bathroom to hang your towels. Little to no room to put a shaving kit anywhere, either - but, that is a minor item. Our issue was not with the hotel, but that we stayed 3 nights and there is just not that much to do/see in Weimar. Had a the best German meal across town on a Sat night, but then realized that most restaurants are closed on Sunday and Monday. Weimar was like a ghost town (late Jan 2022). We should have stayed in Erfurt for a night - gorgeous medieval town. But, back to the hotel -not sure where they are getting that nice picture of having breakfast on an upstairs balcony, because breakfast is served in the large glass room next to check-in. Breakfast was lovely - they even had sekt served on Sunday (which, for 3 euro/bottle, why not serve on all days?). Cappucino's are extra (not included in bfast). We parked on the street for free v. the hotel parking.

Reviewed By NCL827Basic room, paper thin, sandpapery towels. Tiny bathroom with a tiny shower. No air-conditioning and a lot of traffic noise. The bells from the church rang very early (but we thought it was cool!) The staff was non-attentive, not even sure anyone spoke English. The breakfast was mediocre.

It is old, no safe, no fridge, you need to be an engineer to understand the shower funtion. No cleaning every Day. No possibility to use a cooker. Very basic. Strange odd smell in the hallway. The toilet did not look clean and flushng was poor. The price for food compared with berlin and Neurenberg was too high. We will not come back again. No airco. It does not deserve the current rating. Tv channels are very poor. Just sleep here and do not expect anything at all....overall young People are staying in the hotel. I would not advise this hotel for 50+. Parking is free...but i rather pay for safe parking. Hotel is far away of everything.... no...i cannot advise this hotel as 4 rating hotel....3 rating at highest or less. I did not even wait with this review before having our first breakfast.
