Reviewed By rkkwanThis hotel occupies the upper floors of one wing of a computer mall, and shares the entrance and elevators with a technical school, but it wasn't an issue. Our rooms are very airy and have nice view of Renmin Park. Two ethernet wires. The housekeeping staff on our floor is very professional and courteous. The front desk works a bit slow, but otherwise get things done. Lots of restaurants nearby, and we had no problem getting a taxi in front of the hotel.

Whatever you do just stay away from this place
Reviewed By EverythingBurnsI initially chose this hostel assuming that the bad location (nothing but a low-end corner store and some Chinese restaurants at walking distance) was compensated by quality; I was greatly disappointed. Rooms/facilities: - Facilities old and dirty. - No toilet paper in the rooms' toilets; a little in the squat toilets outside. - No breakfast or any meal whatsoever; the hostel systematically lies about this point. - The environment is bad because the hostel attracts the kind of local tourists that shout after midnight and leave the toilet a mess. Not suprisingly, the only foreigner I met there back then was this other guy who had problems with his reservation at some other hostel and ended up here. Services - For the most part the staff has a sneering, bad attitude. - Bad travel advice: I was sent to the wrong bus station; I had to find the right one on my own but thankfully, I can read/speak Chinese, so I did. - The organized trips are a scam. Got charged 200RMB (upped suddenly from 150 when I decided to pay) for transportation only to Qinghai lake. Last minute, they wanted to cancel it because they were a person short of a full car. They put me in car that had no return plan, twice - ended having to to take a random bus back. Out of 8 hours, less than 1 was spent at the lake, the rest was spent being driven around to commercial stops by an idiot constantly smoking inside the car and shouting "Hallo!". - Also bear in mind that most of the staff doesn't speak any English. Overall, what I found more revolting was not the lack of higiene but the greedy scornful attitude of "all foreigners are imbeciles with money deserving to be scammed" - as such I don't think this hostel should belong to YHA which promotes cultural integration and less materialistic values.

Lovely location wow what a spot
Reviewed By Julie FSuper hotel with great room furnished to a good standard. Location on the rice fields close to rural restaurants. Lots of visitors in this area however at the time of year we went it was not over crowded. The room was clean and tastefully decorated, the building a traditional wooden one. I would stay here again as this was one of the better hotels and of a good standard on my 3 week tour of China.

Reviewed By Taraneh RI stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, the rooms are clean and facilities are good. the hotel is nice, big and quiet. the staff hardly speak English and can not really help you. when I asked for the restaurant to eat something, they say the restaurant is not available. I did not like the breakfast too.

Reviewed By PlatinumForeverDUSWe stayed four nights in Holiday Inn Xining Hot Springs - in general very comfortable stay - positive points: clean, well equipped and spacey rooms, excellent gym, great next door hot springs facilities and tasty in-room food service. The English level of most staff is unfortunalely not on a high level, location is quite far away from downtown (about 20-25 min by taxi) and variety of breakfast is ok (but not outstanding) - as the main target group seems to be tourist groups resp. families with smaller kids, the hotel might not be highly recommendable for business travelers.

Mr. YAN provide great information when I was still uncertain about what kind of room I should book for my family, which has 3 people. Upon his information, we got a two-bedroom apartment in The Sebel and it was pleasant to stay. The Sebel was located at the busiest places in Xining and numbers of big shopping centers are within walking distance. Various restaurants and bars ensure that we can have plenty of choices and colorful nightlife. We would also recommend the restaurant called Du nord-ouest in SOFITEL which was a good place to try the traditional cuisine. What keeps me impressed is still the service of the staff. Mr. YAN welcomed us in the lobby and helped us check in warmly. During our stay, all staffs are very helpful and get ready for whatever we requested. I enjoyed every moment in The Sebel Xining because of the wonderful care provided by every staff of the hotel. The Sebel Xining is definitely the no.1 hotel and I will stay again!

Management cannot live up to the masses

Organisation of parking lot is a disaster, massive lines at Checkin (waiting time exceeds 20 minutes), breakfast with extremely limited choices of healthy dishes and chaotic organisation, happy-hour in lounge with limited choices (meat only). Promised bathroom amenities turned out to be cheap copies of European products. Management is clearly not able to handle the masses.
